For me, on a personal level, this is the company’s most desired return. At the time, that huge memory created 7 years ago (!) capable of saving and moving the entire TopoEuropa map seemed like a great advance to me, which Garmin unfortunately did not enhance. This was the pioneer GARMIN EPIX of 2015.
The Epix was Garmin’s first GPS watch capable of displaying maps on its screen. Now, that Topo Europe function is a differential advantage for the Coros Vertix 2, so it is logical that Garmin revives it with a new design to offer an alternative.
Therefore, the brand new Garmin Epix Gen2 would be used to revive that pioneering spirit born seven years ago, but as you can see below, this Epix 2022 is relaunched with a much more modern appearance in its image.
The new model is a modernized version with a larger and also round screen. The first images and leaks point to a glass-fiber reinforced polycarbonate and 316L stainless steel case, which could even be waterproof to a depth of 100 meters.
Of course, the new Garmin Epix has GPS support again and, thanks to the appropriate sensors of the new Garmin functions, we trust that in addition to the usual functions of the brand, it will also take a whole battery of health data, including saturation. blood oxygen and of course heart rate.

The expected Garmin Instinct 2 and Garmin Instinct 2S from 2022 are also new gps watches, but we expect them to maintain the same philosophy: They are more compact GPS smartwatches, equipped with an electronic ink screen. They are watches for tactical use, so they focus on professional users of security forces, firefighters or rescue forces.
They may be a little less comfortable to wear for the popular trail runner or a little limited in connectivity, but they are definitely more durable in terms of runtime. We hope that they will also offer various tracking functions that, in addition to step counting, GPS and heart rate measurement, now give us information on the quality of sleep and the like.
