NEW BALANCE FRESH FOAM X TRAIL MORE V3: MORE CUSHION & LESS WEIGHT FOR LONG LONG TRAIL RUNS. Our TRAIL SHOES section bring us today the technical analysis of the most cushioned trail shoe from New Balance’s: the New Balance Fresh Foam X Trail More V3.
This 2023 version comes with less weight 305 g. (size 9US) which is almost 30 grams with its predecessor, 330 grams)a nd plus 2mm in the midsole for a stack height of 35mm and 31 mm (similar to the Fresh Foam More V4), bringing a drop of 4 mm. They have just been released in the USA with a price of 160$ which normally will be translated into 160€ i n Europe.

The new version on of the FF X Trail More V 3, comes with some really new and cool features that can make this a perfect multi-use trail running-hiking shoe for those who are looking to keep the feet cool, comfortable, and cushioned.
This trail running shoe has a synthetic/mesh construction for breathability, and a two-part Fresh Foam X midsole for exceptional comfort. Also featuring Toe Protect technology and our highest all-terrain stack height, these shoes help keep your feet protected from debris, no matter where you roam.

UPPER
Synthetic/mesh construction, which meets New Balance’s green leaf standard: upper is made of 50% or more recycled content. It offers greater comfort, more support and greater durability.
A priori, this new cover will also offer us greater protection against dust and dirt. In addition to greater breathability. We can also see a new Toe Protect system to protect us from the stones of the road in the area of the fingers. I’m curious if it will keep the width of its asphalt sister or have narrowed in the finger area as is happening in other shoes of the brand. There is also good protection in the heel area.
MIDSOLE
Fresh Foam X midsole foam with approximately 3% bio-based content delivers our most cushioned Fresh Foam experience for incredible comfort. Bio-based content is made from renewable resources to help reduce our carbon footprint.
SOLE
After including the original sole of the HydroHesion brand, New Balance gives a radical change in its sole. With a Vibram ECOSTEP EVO sole, which may not have the same grip as the Hierro V6 with Vibram Megagrip sole, but including a sole with good grip for all types of terrain and greater durability. It includes more prominent 6’5mm studs that will provide greater traction. Curiously, and despite being a Vibram sole, we can see a drawing similar to the asphalt version.
NEW BALANCE MORE X 3 TRAIL: CONCLUSIONS
Next step in the More saga, which continues with the maximalism, but totally renewed. New Balance is committed to maintaining a super cushioned shoe, with high profiles.
This new version shows us, how the reduction of weight (almost 30 grams to previous version) could make this the perfect shoe, both for those light athletes looking for extra comfort in long days on the trails, and for those not so light looking for a cushioned lasting shoe.
With substantial renovation, it improves the sole, greater grip and durability, in addition to more prominent lugs. New midsole, more cushioned and a completely renovated upper.
In this shoe range, even if comparisons may be difficult, we could see similarities with the Brooks Caldera 6, the ASICS TRABUCO MAX 2, SALOMON GLIDE MAX TRAIL or even the HOKA SPEEDGOAT 5.
