ISMF WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS BOÍ TAULL 2023: INDIVIDUAL RACE VICTORIES FOR BONNET & GACHET-MOLLARET. Our SKI MOUNTAINEERING section bring us the first results from the ISMF World Championships in Boi Taull, where almost 300 athletes from 27 countries and five continents are competing.

The ISMF World Championships 2023 continued on Saturday with the Individual race and it was the time for Bonnet and Gachet-Mollaret again, after having won the Vertical on Wednesday.

After a rest day, yesterday was the penultimate day of competition in these ISMF 2023 World Championships, with its main event, the individual race. In this race, after proclaiming themselves Vertical World Champions, Remi Bonnet and Axelle Gachet-Mollaret repeated their triumph, but now individually.

A race that began at 9:10 with the Senior Men’s category, followed by the Senior Women at 9:45. After these two categories, then it was the turn of the juniors and so they continued until a total of six races in a perfect landscape.

REMI BONNET, INDIVIDUAL SKI MOUNTAIN WORLD CHAMPION

In the men’s race, the protagonist was Remi Bonnet, who had the dream of becoming a double World Champion after his victory in the Vertical.
From the start he took control of the race, and after the first climb, he was already leading with 40 seconds. From there he increased his advantage, to reach the finish line almost two minutes ahead of the Italian Matteo Eydallin, who was second.
Bronze also went to another Italian, Robert Antonioli. Nadir Maguet also from Italy finished off the podium fourth, while French legend William Bon Mardion closed out the Top 5.

REMI BONNET STATEMENTS

“It’s my best season ever. In summer I won everything, and now in winter too. So I have to enjoy it.” “The track was perfect, technical and the scenery incredible. I love racing in Spain, the people are lovely, and the races are always good and technical. So I think I’ll be back in the summer.”

AXELLE GARCHET-MOLLARET, INDIVIDUAL SKI MOUNTAIN WORLD CHAMPION

In the women’s race, Axelle Gachet-Mollaret was once again the strongest of all. He had to wait at the finish line for more than three minutes for the second classified Alba de Silvestro, who already got bronze in the Vertical.
Third place has also fallen to the Italian side, Giulia Murada crossing the finish line 42 seconds after Alba. The top 5 were completed by Johanna Hiemer from Austria, who achieved her best result of her career, and Giulia Compagnoni took fifth place.

STATEMENTS AXELLE GACHET-MOLLARET

Gachet-Mollaret, who has won three world titles in the last four days, said: “It was an excellent race. I got away at the start, and then it was very easy to hold my position for the rest of the race. The tour and the beautiful mountains. I am happy to have successfully achieved the biggest goal of the season.”
