SALOMON PULSAR TRAIL PRO X CIELE: REACTIVE AND AGILE ALL OVER ZEBRA PRINT TRAIL SHOES. Our TRAIL SHOES section, bring us  today a deeper technical analysis of the new Salomon Pulsar Trail Pro X Ciele. As you might remenber we presented you  the 2022 Salomon asphalt shoes, the Salomon Trail Running 2022 and the top range S/LAB collection 2022

The same way that Mercedes-Benz has its Brabus collaborations, more and more brands are collaborating in creating unique products that will stand out, not only for their technology features, but also for their look. This is the case of this new Salomon Pulsar Trail Pro X Ciele which comes with an unique design: all over zebra print.

Apart from the look, it comes with the same features as the “normal” Trail Pro,  except the price which is 20 € higher,  170€ , 270 g and a drop of 6 mm for a height of 31 mm in the back and 25 in the front.

 

SALOMON TRAIL RUNNING 2022

To create footwear that will help runners improve and feel more confident regardless of their level, Salomon is bringing  Learning from decades of footwear and trail running expertise, the footwear development team at Salomon created Energy Blade, a plate in the midsole of the shoe that was partly inspired by the hooves of chamois, the species of goat-antelope that lives in the mountains of Europe.

By combining Energy Blade options with a new bouncy foam technology and Reverse Camber construction, the Spring/Summer 2022 trail running footwear range is the perfect mix of responsiveness, comfort and stability, while also offering protection on the trails.

 

The Pulsar Trail Pro and the Pulsar Trail feature an Energy Blade made of high-end composite material.

Similar Energy Blade technology is also used in more accessible models for less experienced trail runners, including the bouncy Hypulse shoe with a TPU Energy blade and the multi-tasking Impulse trail-running shoe. That means you don’t have to be Kilian Jornet to run with a plate-assisted shoe and enjoy the comfort and cushioning benefits of this new Salomon range.

Moreover, looking forward to this 2022, Salomon bring the updated ADV Skin 5 and 12 on your longer runs to carry your poles, jacket, keys, food, or the brand new ADV Skin belt on shorter days.

Speed up your stride and be your best, PULSAR TRAIL PRO X CIELE is a nimble, responsive trail runner packed with Salomon’s most responsive tech. Featuring Energy Blade for propulsion and drive, and Energy Surge foam for springy pop and response.

The Pulsar Trail Pro Ciele brings also the TPU composite plates to trail running in a shoe that is both responsive and stable. The TPU composite plate, called Energy Blade, is a stiff plate that gives more power to the runner by limiting the energy lost on every stride. Thanks to its decoupled construction, the Pulsar Trail Pro is flexible enough to still ensure great stability and comfort.

This is the “fashion”-training version of the most racing S/Lab Pulsar, in fact, it is built on a wider base and uses a thicker midsole to create more comfort during longer training runs.

MIDSOLE

To reduce the gap opened by carbon plates that have been in other brands for years, Salomon has developed a new technology called Energy Blade. The basis of it, as claimed by the French brand, is to adopt an original approach to the development of carbon-coated footwear.

For this, an insert technology has been created that will adjust to the needs of different types of runners. This involves adjusting the insert material on each Salomon running shoe model, as well as the precise placement of the insert within the shoe to meet the needs of certain categories of runners.

Unlike the Pulsar it has a stiff TPU composite propulsion plate and has a decoupled flexible construction for stability and comfort.

As with the Pulsar and Ultraglide, it has an Energy Surge foam midsole, we expect of the same softness as the preceding two which Salomon says provides 40% more responsiveness than their “prior” foams, we can assume as compared to Energy Cell+ but will confirm.

The R.Camber rocker construction speeds up your transition, so you spend less time on the ground and more time moving forward. The combination of these three elements creates the perfect blend of responsiveness, comfort and stability to help you set personal records and win races.

Energy Surge: Lightweight, responsive foam created by combining EVA and Olefin [OBC] to deliver long-lasting cushion and bouncy energy return.

Energy Blade Trail running: Energy Blade is a light TPU plate built into the midsole. The joined efforts of blade, midsole foam and sole geometry activates forward propulsion and ensures stability on trails.

SALOMON PULSAR TRAIL PRO X CIELE: CONCLUSION

The new Salomon Pulsar Trail Pro is a tarining/competition shoe which offers the perfect combination between weight 270 g., confort and durability all of them provided by the midsole and Energy Blade which gives much more reactivity as any other non assisted plate shoe, but with a complete new look design.

It might be the new strategy from the French brand, to start offeing competition shoes with more “fashion” looks, not to only reach competitors, but also sneakers fans.

About the features, are exactly the same as the “normal” model, so it continues the trend of other brands like Hoka, and this new version of Salomon Trail Shoes for 2022 mount different TPU plates for any different type of runner, which clearly is a message from the French brand: plates for all.

All on all, a shoe to be run with many kilometers, comfortable and with a nice look inspired in the Zebra and if you can still adapt to the brand classic Quicklace for sure you will enjoy the fit.
