ZUMAIA FLYSCH TRAIL 2022 (2OCT-22K)
WMRA WORLD CUP FINAL. REGISTRATION OPEN

The Zumaia Flysch Trail focuses this year on the magic of the half marathon: Next 2OCT starting at 10AM, another spectacular edition will be launched, thus completing no less than fourteen years of experience in this enchanting fishing village.

The race is the climax of a few days of great mountaineering atmosphere: On the eve of the competition, on October 1 at 7:00 p.m., we will also experience the ZUMAIA FLYSCH TRAIL CULTURAL, with the presentation of four great mountain books, by their own authors:

  • José Mari Azpiazu. LIFE ON THE LIMIT

ZUMAIA FLYSCH TRAIL: 2 OCT (22K/D+850M)

The next day, 2OCT, the start of the queen sporting event will be at 10AM: The route takes us on a great sports and landscape journey.

For 22km/D+850m the course first winds west along the coast in short, sharp climbs. Traveling through the spectacular cliffs of the UNESCO Global Geopark of the Basque Coast.

After 10km the race takes a big turn inland and heads back towards Zumaia, taking the mirror of the outer course and crossing over itself several times as it turns towards the coast and back in.

In addition to the incredible scenery, one of the great attractions of the Zumaia Flysch Trail is undoubtedly the Basques’ enthusiasm for sports and, in particular, for trail running. First or last, it doesn’t matter; the crowds that gather along the course will give their strong support to each of the athletes in the race.

Do not miss the human corridor that shelters each bib on the last great slope at the entrance of the town. With the last forces at the limit, where the warmth of the public is most appreciated, the volunteers and the fans of Zumaia are always there to provide it.

If you want to come and cheer and enjoy the atmosphere to the fullest, Zumaia is always worth a visit with family and friends. In addition to its spectacular landscapes, with the stratified cliffs of the geopark that gives the race its name, the Zumaia Flysch Trail is an easily accessible race. Donostia-San Sebastián is thirty minutes to the east and has excellent rail links to several major cities, while Bilbao and its airport are an hour to the west. Registration OPENED YESTERDAY May 14 at http://www.kronoak.com.
