ASICS METASPEED+SERIES: METASPEED EDGE+ & SKY+ EVOLUTION. Our RUNNING SHOES section brings brings us the latest novelties of the ASICS competition range: the renewed Metaspeed + Series.
The two shoes of the series, the ASICS Metaspeed Edge+ and the Metaspeed Sky+, presents some novelties compared to the previous season to run even faster aiming for a more “human” shoe, as they have used big data from multiple athletes in the different developments of these Edge+ and Sky+
ASICS METASPEED+SERIES:
THE METASPEED EDGE+ & SKY+ EVOLUTION.
Building on the success of the first METASPEED™ shoes introduced in 2021, Asics has used the data accumulated through its elite athletes to perfect the design of the two shoe models in the series to adapt them to each running style and allow to improve the performance of the runners.
One of the novelties of this season is that both models now have higher volumes of the FF BLAST™ TURBO foam and a more specific placement of the carbon plates of the product to ensure that runners can increase their stride length and thus create a higher speed naturally for their running style.
Some of the world’s best athletes such as Eilish McColgan, Julien Wanders and Mekdes Woldu, among others, have tested prototypes of the METASPEED+ series to improve and optimise the performance of the new range of which the Metaspeed Edge+ and the Metaspeed Sky+ are part.
ASICS METASPEED+SERIES: METASPEED EDGE+
The METASPEED™ EDGE+ shoe is the shoe in the range for cadence type runners that allows them to go faster, since they extend the length of their stride while allowing them to control the cadence more easily.
One of the novelties of this season is the greater presence of the FF BLAST™ TURBO foam, up to 16% more compared to the previous season. In addition, the placement of the lower carbon plate has been slightly modified, allowing for easier forward movement.

ASICS METASPEED+SERIES: METASPEED SKY+
The Metaspeed Sky + shoe is the shoe of the range intended for runners with great length in their strides. The presence of the FF BLAST™ TURBO foam is also increased, but in a smaller proportion than the Metaespeed Edge, only 4% more.
Another of the outstanding novelties is the shape of the curve of the tip of the plate, a little higher than the previous season, improving reactivity. This higher location of the plate allows to compress more volume of foam to obtain a greater rebound.

METASPEED EDGE+ vs METASPEED SKY+
CARBON PLATES USAGE
It is interesting to differentiate the position of the carbon plate in the two models of the competition range par excellence of Asics, adapting in this way, to the way of running of the athletes of each of the shoes to be able to perform at their best.
- METASPEED EDGE+: CADENCE-style runners, who do not exert as much force on their strides, benefit from a placement of the plate lower to improve stabilization and help in their efficiency.
- METASPEED SKY+: STRIDE-style runners, with a longer stride, are favored by a placement higher up the carbon plate to take advantage of its strength and distribute it more evenly throughout the width of the shoe to increase contact with the foam and provide greater reactivity.
