NEW BALANCE FRESH FOAM X VONGO V5: soft running shoe, completely renewed. Our RUNNING SHOES section shows us today this great novelty from New Balance, the fifth version of this running shoe which has many similarities with its sister, the New Balance Fresh Foam X 1080 V11 whose 200km test we showed you a couple of weeks ago.
For this year, the NB Vongo V5 arrives with € 170 price, a 290gr weight, 8mm drop and above all, enhancing that wide cushioning Fresh Foam X that gives them a softness in tread and stability, so valued by their fans.

After a few seasons without novelties in this model, New Balance completely renews it with this new version that represents a leap forward in quality. Take a moment to review the visual changes, in comparison, with the Vongo V4 and let’s go after that to see how much and good it changes for 2021.
New Balance Vongo V4
The Vongo V5 are neutral cushioning running shoes. Included within the training shoes range, intended for those runners who perform many kilometers throughout the year and who need shoes that guarantee those hundreds of kilometers without worrying about their durability.
Runners with a tendency to pronation and with a medium high weight will be the ones who will be able to extract the most performance from this new version that incorporates the new Fresh Foam X compound in the midsole and that, thanks to the greater density on the inner face of the shoe, will provide greater stability to the runners.

NEW BALANCE FRESH FOAM VONGO V5: HIGHLIGHTS
As we mentioned earlier, the fifth version of the New Balance Vongo changes completely from the previous models and its resemblance to the new 1080 is evident.
The base and sole of the shoe is the same as the 1080, same material (Blown Rubber) and same distribution of rubber in the sole. One of the main characteristics of the Blown Rubber is its robustness, with which we will have a fairly long duration of the shoe, in addition, as in the 1080 includes reinforcements in the heel area and the toe to provide an extra durability. Despite being an asphalt shoe, like the 1080 or 880 they should have no problems pecking on easy tracks and trails without technical difficulties.
The midsole incorporates the new Fresh Foam X technology (like the 1080) with which the runners will have on their feet a shoe with a great cushioning that will provide that comfort along the thousands of kilometers that we are going to run with these shoes. The big difference with the 1080 is that in the inner part of the shoe, the Fresh Foam material is combined with EVA with a greater density and hardness than in the external part to provide that extra stability to the runner that the 1080 does not have, hardness of 65 on the inside by 45 on the outside.
The Hypoknit fabric is the main protagonist of the upper of this new version of the Vongo, the same material that also incorporates the latest version the 1080 with which we will have a perfect support of the foot thanks to its great elasticity, in addition to a great comfort and breathability thanks to this fabric.
The most different part of the shoe to the new 1080 is the heel area, while the 1080 v11 incorporates the UltraHeel compound, a much lighter heel than traditional sneakers. The New Balance vongo v5 has a heel area that provides more protection to the runner, with a more traditional design, more similar to other models of the North American brand such as the 880 or the More v3.
NEW BALANCE FRESH FOAM VONGO V5: CONCLUSIONS
This new model has involved a total renovation with respect to the previous versions of the Vongo range. Shoe within the range that incorporates the new Fresh Foam X and ideal for training sessions, which provide greater stability for those runners who prefer more stability.
We have before us a perfect shoe for long distances and for runners of upper middle weight who need more stability when running but who nevertheless do not want to lose that dynamism that brings the 1080 above other shoes in the training range such as the 880 or the More.
Cushioning, durability, great stability and comfort have to be four of the main features of this fifth version of the New Balance Vongo. We will test it thoroughly and shortly we will explain our conclusions.
