VAUDE TRAIL SPACER 8: light and functional hiking, trailrunning and biking backpack. Our TRAILRUNNING GEAR section today introduces the VAUDE Trail Spacer 8, a compact backpack for trailrunning, challenging hiking and mountain biking.
The German brand VAUDE presents us this IPSO awarded backpack with a volume of 8 liters, a price of 120€ and 390 g weight. It is a multi-use backpack that can serves you very well while running, riding, walking in the mountains or even going to ski with it as you can see in some of the pictures from our German tester Steffi.

VAUDE is a German technical high-performance apparel, outerwear and equipment company. It was founded in 1974 in the thin mountain air of the Alps by Albrecht von Dewitz. Mr. von Dewitz was able to made his hobby into a profession and founded the company VAUDE naming it after his initials, v. D. which in German are pronounced [fau’de].
In 1992, VAUDE founded the product range Bike Sports, which offers clothing and accessories for cyclists. Later in the 90’s, 1998, VAUDE founds the product range Packs’n Bags with fashionably functional bags and back packs collections.

This VAUDE Trail Spacer 8 L is a compact, versatile, light and very functional backpack with an exceptional form-fitting that comes with a great ventilation feature and an ecofriendly production. The brand describe it as “lightweight, exceptionally comfortably fitting backpack for fast-paced hiking, active mountain biking and trail running” and we must say, so far, it is all true.
The 3D suspension system in knit with the seamless construction offers a pleasant microclimate (in the back) and carrying comfort as well as shock absorption thanks to the three-dimensional construction of the back. In addition, this technology features separate anatomical padding zones that ensure excellent, load positioning backpack positioning.
At the same time, heat from your back can pass through the textile materials. A nice side effect: Because the suspension system is knit to form without foam, it can be produced without remnant materials. The Trail Spacer 8 offers everything that you need for a fast-paced tour. The vest-style backpack construction offers great freedom of movement, two sternum straps ensure a stable fit. Anything you need close at hand on your hike (such as a drink bottle, energy bar or phone) can be stored in the shoulder strap pocket. Hydration bladder, rain jacket and first aid kit can be stowed in the main compartment. Pole attachment and compression straps can be tightened while you’re wearing the pack. Reflective elements and a safety light attachment point increase visibility in low light conditions.

VAUDE TRAIL SPACER 8: MEN & WOMEN FITTING
Something that we have been able to already test is the possibility of using the backback by both men and women as the combined compression and fixation system works perfectly and it can be adjusted according to the users body/needs, both using the back stripes and the front adjustable closure system.

This Trail Spacer is the perfect backpack for those active adventorous people who enjoy every active mountain spoirt, from hiking to gravel biking, mountain biking and trailrunning. It perfectly adapts to the body anatomy, both male and female and its form-fitting together with the ventilation systems make from it the perfect companion for any summer mountain tour. There is enough space for your gore-tex vlothinbg, food and water, moreover the front pockets/compartmnets make any essential available while walking/running.
In conclusion, this versatile backpack is the perfect multipurpose backpack for your active holidays this summer.
The only thing we noticed, for those who like to run in the mointains, is that it comes without whistle which is one of the safty elements compulsory in majority of the trailrunning races.
