ASICS SUPERBLAST: MAXIMALISM AND COMFORT FOR TRAINING, FORBIDDEN IN COMEPTITION. Our RUNNING SHOES section brings us another new shoe for this 2022, the ASICS SUPERBLAST.

As mentioned in the title, it comes as a fantastic comfortable training shoe, however it is banned from official competitions as its sole and midsole thickness is higher than the 40 mm allowed by the World Athletics. In any case, it is a shoe available, for speed training which comes with a high price, 220€, very light weight with only 239 grams and a drop of 8 mm, where the stack height is the thicker that we have ever presented here: heel: 45 mm / forefoot: 37,5 mm.

The SUPERBLAST™ shoe is the newest hero of the BLAST series. It creates a lightweight and responsive ride that makes it functional for long runs, tempo runs, and everything in between.​This shoe’s upper construction features an asymmetric mesh design. It features different colors on the medial and lateral angles of the shoe for visual interest.

As mentioned before this numbers make the shoe banned from official competitions, where the maximum thickness of the sole is 40 mm.

SOLE

AHARPLUS™ outsole rubber improves the outsole durability. The sockliner is produced with the solution dyeing process that reduces water usage by approximately 33% and carbon emissions by approximately 45% compared to the conventional dyeing technology

Reflective details are designed to improve visibility in low-light settings

ASICS SUPERBLAST: CONCLUSIONS

The ASICS SUPERBLAST is born as a reactive and comfortable shoe shoe, however it is banned from official competitions as its sole and midsole thickness is higher than the 40 mm allowed by the World Athletics, so for those who still look for an ASICS shoe which is allowed in the official competitions, you can still have a look into the ASICS NOVABLAST OR METASPEED.

As you might remember, a couple of weeks ago, we also presented you here a model from adidas, the ADIDAS ADIZERO PRIME X STRUNG which are also forbidden in official competitions due to their stack high.

More and more often, brands are developing maximalist shoes, which are maybe forbidden for athletic competitions, but not for IRONMAN competitions. In the case of the Superblast, it is clear that ASICS looked for reactive, lightweight and super comfortable shoe, nomatter if could be or not used in official athletics competitions.

Obviously not a shoe to wear everyday, due to the little weight otherwise the outsole will be worn out pretty soon, moreover as the money investment is pretty high too, maybe just a shoe for those long and fast runs, where comfort is a must.
