ADIDAS INFINITE TRAILS 2022 (9-11 SEPT):
TRAIL RUNNING SEASON FINALE

The permanent change to autumn was preceded by intensive reconcilement, because in accordance with the sustainable event concept, the organizational team first consulted all interest groups and nature conservationists when setting the date. Among other things, the annual deer rut, which starts at the beginning of September, had to be considered. “We share our playground – nature – with other users but above all with other living beings and it is our responsibility to take this into account in all our decisions in terms of sustainability,” explains event director Mike Hamel. “That can sometimes take a little longer.”

After a two-year Corona break, adidas INFINITE TRAILS reported back in late September 2021 (due to the pandemic) and prepared a downright trail run bash for over 600 participants from 36 nations in the Gastein Valley. In glorious autumn weather, the stars of the scene, ambitious recreational runners and sports celebs from other disciplines enjoyed the high-class event, which focused on bringing the trail community back together in a safe environment and celebrating the sport together.

The event will continue to adhere to the motto “CELEBRATE THE SPORT”, so if you want to experience how a community really celebrates itself and its sport, you shouldn’t miss the adidas INFINITE TRAILS from 9-11 September this year. Over 950 athletes form 52 nations are coming together in Gastein/ SalzburgerLand (Austria) to crown their trail running season with a very special ending.

Trail runners all over the world have been looking forward to the international community event for months, of which many say “it is more than just a race – it’s a celebration”. Whether you are a beginner, experiencing your very first trail race with the 15K RUN, or an ultra-fan racing on the unique 65K route, which leads over three Gastein peaks at 5000m, the adidas INFINITE TRAILS offer sporting challenges for all performance classes. However, the supreme discipline this weekend is the TEAM RACE.

Here you don’t just run for yourself, but for your teammates. Three runners each start as a relay in the categories women, men, or mixed. Each team has to cover a total distance of 100 kilometers and 7,600 vertical meters, divided into three different loops that take into account different types of runners: Loop S = 21km/1900m – Loop M = 35km/2700m – Loop L = 44km/3000m). In order to have enough racing time in daylight for all three distances and as much “common time” as possible after the race, the team members start together at 7am in the morning. Individual runners are also welcome at the adidas INFINITE TRAILS and can choose from three solo distances: 15K, 45K or 65K.

ADIDAS INFINITE TRAILS 2022: THE RACES

#3RUNNERS- #3LOOPS – #ONETEAM

With the adidas INFINITE TRAILS in Gastein/ SalzburgerLand, adidas Outdoor has created a pro-am event for the trail running community, in which the team aspect comes to the fore in a sport dominated by lone wolves. Three runners start at adidas INFINITE TRAILS as a team in the three categories women, men or mixed.

Each team must cover a total distance of around 100 kilometres and 7,600 meters in altitude, divided into three different loops that consider different types of runners (half marathon to marathon): Loop S = 21km/1900m – Loop M = 34km/2700m – Loop L = 44km/3000m). To have enough racing time for all three distances in daylight, the team members start at the same time.

SOLO RUNNERS

Solo runners are also welcome at the adidas INFINITE TRAILS and can choose between three distances: 15K, 45K or 65K.

Along with the relay race of around 100 kilometers with 7,600 meters of climbing, divided into three different loops (21K/34K/44K), adidas INFINITE TRAILS offer three distances for solo runners in 2022: the spectacular 65K loop over three Gastein summits (65km/5,000m), a new 45K route and the popular 15K loop.

#CELEBRATETHESPORT – UNIQUE COMMUNITY GET-TOGETHER Under the motto “Celebrate The Sport”, the intensive community experience is the focus of the adidas INFINITE TRAILS. In addition to plenty of vertical meters on fantastic single trails and around 350 highly motivated, caring volunteers along the route, the race, which is organized with great attention to detail, offers the participants a very special experience at the crowning end of the season: Where else would you find an alpine thermal bath with several saunas and a whirlpool in the after-goal area , bathing lake and physiotherapy center for regeneration on the trail runners? Where else can you talk shop with professionals in such a relaxed atmosphere? And where do you experience the award ceremony after a race as part of a huge pool party? The Alpentherme Gastein is available to the adidas INFINITE TRAILS community exclusively as an athletes’ garden on the day of the race; free entry is part of the starter package. Accompanying persons receive a discount and can of course also celebrate after cheering and supporting.

AUSTRIAN SINGER SONGWRITER PAENDA PERFORMS LIVE AT THE START

In the early morning she will send off her boyfriend, Austrian artist Lukas WENDJA Plöchl, on the 65K, not singing but cheering at the start line. One hour later, at 7am PAENDA give runners and spectators an extra energy boost for the day with a little mini concert in the Alpen Arena, right at the TEAM start leading into the pre-start of the 15K.

“On our very first meeting/date, I accompanied Lukas on the bike while he ran – that stayed with us”, she says. “I think it’s incredibly respectable how disciplined he is in training and I try to support him in achieving his goals as much as possible. And with my little concert I want to support all the other runners at adidas INFINITE TRAILS as well. Your achievements are amazing!”
