SKYRUNNING YOUTH WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS 2022. Our SKYRUNNING section bring us today the info and pre-race of the Skyrunning Youth World Championships  which represent the stage where young runners test their skills in a field of hot competition for medals and glory.

The sixth edition will take place on July 22 and 24, 2022 in the Principality of Andorra in ArinsalVallnord, which will host the championships for the second time round after the successful 2017 edition – this time, also open to 15-year-olds.

SKYRUNNING YOUTH WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS 2022

Two skyrunning disciplines: VERTICAL and SKY will represent the challenge for 177 athletes from 26 countries. The rewards? 57 medals are at stake for individual and combined titles. Countries will be awarded medals based on points scored by the top four athletes.

Teams from across the world are heading for Andorra – a sure sign of the growing success of the Youth World Championships. They are: Andorra, Australia, Belgium, Bolivia, Brazil, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Japan, Netherlands, North Macedonia, Norway, Peru, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom and USA. Peru, North Macedonia and Ireland are participating for the first time.

SKYRUNNING YOUTH WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS 2022: PROGRAM

With a very complete program, the Youth Skyrunning World Championships include the Sky and Vertical Kilometer modality, and that is divided into three age ranges. Three age groups will decide who are the best in Category A (16-17 years), B (18-20 years) and U23 (21-23 years), completing different routes of authentic skyrunning.

FRIDAY 22 JULY –  VERTICAL KILOMETER

The Vertical Kilometer will open the World Championships, on Friday, July 22, with a very demanding route that in just 3.5 kilometers crowns the Alto de la Capa at 2,530 meters of altitude, saving a slope of 1,000 meters.

The competition, which will be divided into Youth A (16-17 years), Youth B (18-20 years) and U23 (21-23 years), will offer the opportunity to discover the new values of skyrunning.

SUNDAY 24 DE JULY – SKY

The highlight of the Youth Skyrunning World Championships arrives on Sunday, July 24 as it will be crowned in the Sky category.

YOUTH A

The 14Km SkyRace Arinsal circuit with 1,300 meters of positive slope will define the final classification of the World Cup event for participants in Youth A.

 

YOUTH B & U23

The 19-kilometer SkyRace Arinsal circuit with 1,450 meters of positive slope will be the stage in which the participants in Youth B and U23 will fight for the world title.
