VICTORIES HANNES NAMBERGER & MIMMI KOTKA
Hannes Namberger, German athlete from Ruhpolding, born in 1989 achieved a new victory at the end of the 120 kilometers (5,800 vertical meters) of the 2022 edition of the Lavaredo Ultra Trail
It was not an easy victory: Namberger actually won with a record time -11h56’28»- improving the record that he himself had set last year (12h02’12»).
We saw a race in which the people were very fast from the first meters, barely starting at 11:00 p.m. As the kilometers passed, no one could resist the strength of the Bavarian athlete who entered the finish line champion at the foot of the Cortina.
After him, the Swiss Gian Marchet Schicktanz (12h07’02”) came second and completed the podium Jiasheng Shen (12h28’47”) the veteran Chinese athlete who had already obtained second place in 2019.
“Winning here for the second time in a row is something amazing,” says Hannes Namberger. «Going back to Cortina after having won and after having achieved the record in 2021 was somewhat risky but I like challenges and I wanted to try it even if the condition was not one hundred percent. I did very well. I think I did a smart race.”
MIMMI KOTKA, CHAMPION 14H.51.25
Among the women, the Swedish Mimmi Kotka won, first in 14h51’25». On the second and third steps of the podium came the Polish Katarzyna Solińska (15h11’24”) and the Austrian Esther Fellhofer (16h01’22”). “I started very strong, a little too strong,” said winner Mimmi Kotka.
“Then I was the victim of some falls that slowed me down. In the end I struggled a lot but I managed to hold back the opponents’ return. I’m super happy”.
