UTMB MONT BLANC 2022: PREMIERES ITS EIGHTH RACE, THE ETC 15K COURMAYEUR. Our UTMB section confirms a new race. It will be the eighth test, which makes the central event of the corporation even more gigantic.
This time, the base will be located in the Italian neighbor, Courmayeur on a trace of 15k/ D + 1,300m. Registrations are open from today at 12Am and no, they do not require rolling stones.

The next edition of Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc will take place, God willing, from 22 to 28 August 2022. The demand for bibs for each of their races has not stopped growing in all this time, reaching 32,000 applications at UTMB 2020, from 25,700 the previous year.
Before the pandemic break, it already hosted athletes from 111 countries and had 224 registered among the international elite. Figures that, after taking flight in 2021, will undoubtedly be surpassed in 2022, even more so with the new race just launched today
The ECT 15k of Courmayeur is already nothing less than THE EIGHTH of the races of the event: UTMB, TDS, CCC, OCC, MCC, YCC and now this brand new ETC….
Yes, with a certain internal joke, as happened with the non-competitive “Petite Trotte a Leon”, which is the longest of all the races, with about 250km approx.

UTMB 2022: ETC 15K COURMAYEUR
Four years later, the economic and media success of the event continues to grow. In this way, in addition to launching the UTMB WORLD SERIES worldwide franchise jointly with Ironman, the UTMB Group has decided to further expand its central event.
It will be a new format that the organization promises to be equally attractive and popular. The ETC, the Experience Trail Courmayeur, -a new 15 km race with 1,300 m of positive slope- thus adds to the sporting and experiential offer of the UTMB® Mont-Blanc.
Isabelle Viseux-Poletti, director of the UTMB Mont-Blanc defends it by arguing a more open and training character for it: “There was a real desire to offer this new distance that is aimed at everyone, whether they are experienced runners, amateurs, families or volunteers. This shorter distance allows you to test the trail running experience before testing yourself over a longer distance.
ETC is a race for everyone, which aims to be fun and popular. We are doing everything we can to make this distance attractive to runners, companions and everyone participating in the event.”
ETC 15K COURMAYEUR: THE COURSE
With a route of 15 km and 1,300 meters of positive slope around Courmayeur, the ETC promises to offer a sporting challenge and the possibility of experiencing the atmosphere of the competition right in the middle of the week of the UTMB Mont-Blanc.
Will it be the straw that breaks the camel’s back and steals the magic by saturation? Or will it be a new addition of great value? At the same time…
Courmayeur, obviously, offers great panoramas and paths to enjoy. The race passes through the mountain meadows of Tirecorne and La Suche, two magnificent natural balconies that will show runners the landscapes of the Mont-Blanc massif.
