After two cancellations, Japan’s leading trail running event finally returns to the foot of Mt. Fuji.
ULTRA-TRAIL MT. FUJI 2022:
JAPAN CELLEBRATES TRAIL RUNNING THIS WEEKEND
On the trails around Mt. Fuji, the highest mountain in Japan and the world cultural heritage. With international standards of environmental protection measures and sports event management. After three-year hiatus due to COVID, ULTRA-TRAIL Mt. FUJI (UTMF) is going to take place this weekend, from April 22 to 24.
With various COVID prevention measures in place, more than 2,400 athletes will run 165km “UTMF165k”, and the first-ever 69-km “KAI69k”, named after ancient province.
This year, Fuji-Q Highland (Fujikawaguchiko and Fujiyoshida, Yamanashi) will be the new venue for the event, as well as UTMF EXPO with exhibition of outdoor and sports brands.
UTMF 2022 will be a pinnacle of elite athletes living in Japan. In addition, professional trail runner Tsuyoshi Kaburaki, one of the founders of the event and the event’s chairman, will participate in UTMF165k for the first time.
