SPARTAN TRAIL: 2021 AWARDS &NEWS 2022 FROM TRANSGRANCANARIA. Our MOUNTAIN RACES CALENDAR 2022 reviews the 2021 awards and the nine events that make up the second edition of the American business project.

SPARTAN TRAIL 2021: AWARDS
SPARTAN DISTRIBUTES 65,000USD IN PRIZES DURING TRANSGRANCANARIA.
In the Transgrancanaria 2022, $25,000 in prizes are distributed for the second consecutive year, while the Spartan Trail circuit also awards $ 40,000 at the closing ceremony to the best of the 2021 season.
Spartan Trail World Championship has chosen Gran Canaria to host the awards ceremony of the 2021 edition of the circuit, which took place today, Thursday, March 3, at 10:30 am (Canarian time).
The event, in which 40 thousand dollars have been distributed, has taken place at the Vital Suites Hotel located in the south of the island of Gran Canaria, near the sublime natural space of the Dunes of Maspalomas.
In the STWC’s end-of-season awards, the $40,000 in prize money went to those elite athletes who demonstrated the best performance over the past year.
The amounts to be distributed range from $ 3,500 for the first to $ 800 for the fifth classified.
Among the winners are Aurelien Dunand-Pallaz, Antonio Martínez, Ben Kimtai or Jonathan Albon, while in women, Azara García de los Salmones, Elisa Desco or Ida Nilsson, among others, stand out.
TRANSGRANCANARIA 2022: PREMIOS 5th MARCH (25.000USD)
The trophy ceremony of the TRANSGRANCANARIA is advanced to the afternoon of Saturday, March 5, at which time we will already know the winners of the twenty-third edition.
One more year we will have the emotion at the surface of the skin watching the participants cross the finish line of the Transgrancanaria HG, which this year celebrates 20 years, which is why the organization plans to celebrate it in style.
In the program of events, which will be presented next week, it is worth mentioning the delivery of trophies, which this year is advanced to Saturday, March 5. During the afternoon of Saturday, the transgrancanaria HG awards ceremony will take place in the Parque Sur of Maspalomas.
In it, in addition to the trophies of all modalities, the Spartan Trail World Championship circuit will distribute, for the second consecutive year, 25 thousand dollars to the elite athletes who will occupy the Top 5 in the Classic 126k and 43k Marathon modalities of this edition. The fastest on the Trail Ultra circuit will take from $ 2,500 the first classified to $ 600 the fifth. And, in the Trail Run mode, the prizes will range from $ 2,300 to $ 400.
“One way to support and encourage the professionalization of elite athletes is to incorporate cash prizes to runners. Winning a race like the Transgrancanaria is a very important milestone in the career of an athlete, and with this incentive that is given thanks to the Spartan Trail World Championship we give an added incentive to our event, “explains Carlos Torrent, director of the Transgrancanaria.
SPARTAN TRAIL 2022 CALENDAR:

The launch of the new Spartan Trail 2021 circuit generated expectations whose real final development may not have been completed. As happened at the time with the now defunct Ultra Trail World Tour, few fans will be able today to name the champions of the last edition.
However, the American company does not give up and for 2022 launching the second season of the Spartan Trail World Championship, which as we can see maintains the striking business denomination of “World Championship”.
SPARTAN TRAIL 2022: CALENDAR.
The 2022 circuit is significantly weakened by losing a key event, Lavaredo Ultra Trail that after the first experience 2021 has chosen to reassociate with UTMB WORLD SERIES 2022. Hong Kong’s Translantau also comes out. Enter the Skyline Scotland appointment of which, unfortunately, we still do not know the exact distances.
Thus, for this year the “Spartan Trail World Championship” maintains nine events whose main attraction for the popular one is to be spread over the five continents. For spaniards, having Transgrancanaria and Ultrapirineu is undoubtedly an advantage for those who wish to figure it as a target.

SPARTAN TRAIL 2022: TWO CATEGORIES.
The Championship has two categories with two different rankings, thus seeking to reach a higher rank of elite athletes.
- SPARTAN TRAIL ULTRA: The Trail Ultra championship will host events of more than 50 kilometers,
- SPARTAN TRAIL RUN: the Trail Run championship will do the same with events of 49 kilometers or less.
The company has concentrated its promotional investment on paying the elites who participate. Thus, in addition to the particular contracts that some sign as “ambassadors” of the company throughout the year, an important bag of cash prizes is also offered.
There will be € 22,500 ($ 25,000) per race divided between each category. It is a huge commitment to the elite from Spartan. The company argues that it seeks give value to the efforts of those who aim to be as professional as possible in the sport of trail running.
The best four results will be counted among the total of tests played, with a minimum of two tests completed to be included in the elite ranking.
