FRANCOIS D’HAENE 2022 CALENDAR: PIERRA MENTA, HARDROCK100, L’ECHAPPÉE BELLE AND DIAGONALE DES FOUS. Our  MOUNTAIN RACING CALENDAR bring us today the latest news from Francois D’Haene who has made public his 2022 calendar as Kilian Jornet did some days ago.

In Francois own words: “I don’t know why but I’ve received so many messages about my 2022 competition program for a few days. I’ve seen a bit of excitement about a little race around the Mont-Blanc. A great upcoming season, even more with the come-back of a young trail runner on the most iconic races. I can’t wait to share good adventures in Le Beaufortain at la Pierra Menta soon and then at the Hardrock.”

FRANCOIS D’HAENE 2022 CALENDAR

A couple of days ago we informed you about Kilian’s calendar, and yesterday was the turn of the Salomon French athlete, Francois d’Haene to reveals his 2022 goals.

And yesterday he has just revealed his calendar for this 2022:

  • Skimo race, Pierra Menta (9-12 March)
  • Hardrock 100 miles (15 July)
  • L’Echappée Belle (19-21 August)
  • Diagonale des Fous (21 October)

So, the gambling is up, will Francois run the Pierra Menta together with Kilian? Moreover, interesting to see how the French runner will not run many races this year, which also shows the dedication and preparation that he is devoted to. Run less, but achieve 100% the target.

In anycase, what is clear is that in these Pierra Menta and Hardrock it will be fascinating for all the audience to see 2 of the most iconic ultra runners of all times, face to face again.

PIERRA MENTA 4 ETAPES | 10.000M+ | 9-12 MARCH

Becasue nothing is better than ski mountaneering and no better race than Pierra Menta, as Kilian described in his INstagram post. The question now would be to know who will he partner with.

HARDROCK 100 MILES | 160KM |10.000M+| 15 JULY

Departure from Silverton Colorado on 15th July at 6.00 am crossing thirteen major passes in the 12,000′ (3600 m) to 13,000′ (4000m) range, ultil reaching the highest point on the course being the 14,048′(4200 m) summit of Handies Peak, to finally arrive back to Silverton after 100 miles/160km and complete the tradition of, instead of crossing a finish line, “kiss the Hardrock”, a picture of a ram’s head painted on a large block of stone mining debris.

Here you can read how we told you LIVE on 2021,when François D’Haene arrives to Silverton, kisses the rock and won this Hardrock 2021, at 21:45:50, in the middle of the morning 4AM local time (12 noon CET), in less than 24 hours after leaving at 6AM and dispossessing Kilian Jornet of the race record that was 23:28:00.

This 2022 we will see, for sure, a great battle between Francois and Kilian, and why not, another record?

L’ECHAPPÉE BELLE | 120 KM (DUO RACE)|11 000 MD+| 19 AUGUST

The race will go through all key points of the 4 other races. Embark on a duo adventure, in almost full autonomy, for a magnificent trip to the heights of Belledonne !

Interesting that the race track will ONLY be released 10 days before the departure of the race. Race reserved to ONLY 50 pairs.

 

DIAGONALE DES FOUS 160 KM | 9600M+ | 21 OCTOBER

The Diagonal de Fous s is a very hard ultra unique in the world for its landscapes (the Natural Park of Réunion is a UNESCO Heritage Site).

It brings together the abrupt and brutal profile of the race, crossing the impressive “Circuses” of Cilaos and Mafate – this circus gives its name to one of the emblematic shoe models of the Hoka One One brand. It also weighs the prohibition of running with canes to protect that environment, and the extreme temperatures that will be experienced.

This 2021, due to a fire that occurred a few months ago, the race was cut by 6 kms and the mythical climb to Maïdo that would arrive around km 100 will not be climbed, so it will be in 160km and 9400m. Below, detail layout Diagonale des Fous 2021.
