GOLDEN TRAIL WORLD SERIES: RACE CALENDAR 2022. Our GOLDEN TRAIL WORLD SERIES section bring us today the race calendar for 2022, that will start in Europe with Zegama-Aizkorri on May 29th.

The GTWS 2022 will start, as we say, in Spainn but finally will leave Europe again and wilkl have no less than 2 races in the USA! To warm up, we leave you here the video of the 2021 session start and after that we go with all the details.

GOLDEN TRAIL WORLD SERIES: RACE CALENDAR 2022

Yesterday the details of the GOLDEN TRAIL SERIES 2022 circuit were confirmed: It will be formed by a combination of usual races, curious novelties and the Grand Final again in the Azores.
After a successful 2021 season, the Golden Trail World Series returns in 2022 with a renewed schedule and new initiatives.

• On the positive side, he will finally leave Europe again and with no less than two races in the USA.
• On the negative, after two cancellations of the final in K42 Patagonia, this 2022 already falls out of the program from the beginning. A pity for the Hispanic fans. Let’s go with the details.

CALENDAR SALOMON GOLDEN TRAIL SERIES 2022

• 29^th May: Zegama-Aizkorri, Spain
• 26^th June: Marathon du Mont-Blanc, France
• 6^th August: Stranda Fjord Trail Race, Norway
• 13^th August: Sierre-Zinal, Switzerland
• 17^th September: Pikes Peak Ascent, USA
• 25^th September: Flagstaff Sky Peaks, USA
• 26^th to 30 October: Grand Final, Madeira Ocean Trails®, Madeira.

The 2022 version will be anchored to the three mythical meets: Zegama, The Basque Fever, the Marathon du Mont Blanc and its Rollercoaster, and the Fast and Furious Sierre-Zinal.

Then, the Series will discover new races, with an excursion to Norway, near to where Stian Angermund lives (the 2021 Series’ winner), to take part in the Stranda Fjord Trail Race, next heading to the USA for the Pikes Peak Ascent in Colorado, where they will offer a $10,000 prize reward for arriving under 2h, or under 2h21 for the women, and lastly, the Flagstaff Sky Peaks that will take us into the heart of the American trail-running community in Arizona.

GOLDEN TRAIL SERIES: PROMOTIONAL SALOMON CIRCUIT

Given the very strong promotional investment that Salomon dedicates every year to this project, the Salomon Golden Trail Series, like any corporate project, seeks to make the most of it. A strategy in which we have already seen brands like Red Bull triumph with their events.

Salomon does it in two parallel ways:

• On the one hand, by attracting elite runners whose sponsors are rival brands of Salomon, to whom their payers nevertheless ask them to participate in these promotional events of the French brand.
• On the other, adjusting the broadcasts towards an audience beyond mountain races, seeking to emulate those Redbull images already almost ubiquitous in any generalist channel.

The Golden Trail World Series, along with the athletes’ support, have decided to plan two trips with two competitions, in two-week slots on two different continents. This will give opportunities to Americans or Europeans to take only one intercontinental flight in the year by participating in a minimum of 3 races out of 6 (at least one race on their continent + two races, if needed, on another continent). “As a result, we are giving a bigger opportunity to North American runners to participate in our international series and we hope in the future to be able to also include Asia“, concludes Grégory Vollet.

SALOMON GOLDEN TRAIL SERIES 2022: POINTS CALCULATION.

As is logical in a commercial circuit, the scoring system varies this year, according to the interests of the organizing brand.
In this case, to determine the winners of the GTWS 2022 all the results will be counted. Points will be doubled in each race, 200 points for the winners.

So, it is vital to go to accounts more races better to score always, Something that Salomon athletes will appreciate, of course they have the support of the brand for everything. Athletes who charge from other brands also receive partial support on a case-by-case basis. You can read the details on the circuit’s official website.

And of course, everything will still be alive for the Grand Final in stages: There will be 100 points the aue will be distributed each day among the winners of each stage, plus sections to stopped clock that will entail 50 points. This way they can potentially score up to 450 points during the week.
