THE ONE RACE GOLDEN TRAIL SERIES 2021 FINAL: VICTORIES FOR MAUDE MATHYS & FRANCESCO PUPPI. This Saturday, October 16, the final test of the Golden Trail World Series circuit, The One Race, was held on the Island of El Hierro with victories for Maude Mathys and Francesco Puppi.

In the previous months we have been telling you all the races of the Salomon promotional circuit since it started on June 13 in La Olla de Núria 2021. Then it was the turn of the MontBlanc Marathon in July, the Dolomyith Run in July, the mythical Sierre Zignal in August and Chiemgau Trail Run and SkyRhune in September. We go over it all below.

THE ONE RACE GOLDEN TRAIL SERIES 2021 FINAL: VICTORIES FOR MAUDE MATHYS & FRANCESCO PUPPI | EL HIERRO |  CANARY ISLANDS

The best riders in the world have gathered today on the Canary Island of El Hierro to compete in the grand final of the Golden Trail World Series circuit. This circuit is sponsored by the French brand Salomon and for this race, they have the organization of Incorpore Sano and the collaboration of the Cabildo de El Hierro and the municipalities of La Frontera and Valverde.

Total distance: 36.9 km

Elevation gain +: 2862 m

Cumulative elevation gain: 5978 m

VICTORIES FOR MAUDE MATHYS & FRANCESCO PUPPI

In the women’s category, the Swiss Maude Mathys won the event with a final time of 4: 05.30 ahead of the Dutch Nienke Brinke who, despite her physical problems in the second part of the race, managed to maintain the second without problems position with respect to the French Anaïs Sabrié who finished in third position with a time of 4: 24.41.

In the men’s category, the 27-year-old Italian, Francesco Puppi, has beaten the Frenchman Thibaut Baronian in an exciting race. The Norwegian Stian Angermund dominated a large part of the race, he escaped his teammates Francesco Puppi and Thibaut Baronian in the first great descent of the race, in any case the Italian and the Frenchman have followed Stian Angermund’s entire race very closely.

A mistake by the Norwegian at the time of starting the last climb brought the three riders back together but a big crash by Stian left him with no chance of opting for the final victory. The Italian runner Francesco Puppi won the race with a time of 3: 58.17, just two minutes ahead of the French Thibaut Baronian (4: 00.05), in third position Anders Kjaerevick finished with a time of 4: 09.35.

Regarding the Spanish participation, highlight the great career of the Catalan Jan Margarit, running from less to more, finishing in fifth position with a time of 4: 13.12, just ahead of Stian Angermund who could barely run during the last kilometers and that he finished in sixth final position.
