LAVAREDO ULTRA TRAIL 2021: Alex García and Marta Fabris win Cortina Skyrace (20km 1000M+). Our SECTION TRAIL RUNNING ITALY is already live from Dolomites for you all. One more year, where to run and share the best of this race. A proof that is, for many, “La piu bella gara di montagna do mondo”.

Yesterday started CORTINA SKYRACE with victories of Alex García Carrillo and Marta Fabris. Today at 9AM started Cortina Trail 48k and at 23h the queen raceLavaredo Ultra Trail 120k. Tomorrow at 8am completes the program the departure of the Ultra Dolomites 80km.

The Spaniard, with a record, and vicenza won yesterday the “fast” test of the four days in the Dolomites of Ampezzo, the Cortina Skyrace. Today we will live the second day, with the departures of Cortina Trail 48k and Lavaredo Ultra trail.

After the stop of 2020, due to a health emergency, yesterday the history of La Sportiva Lavaredo Ultra Trail has been restarted, an international reference event in the world of trail running. He did it yesterday, Thursday, June 24, with the “fast” test of the four planned for this 2021, namely, the Cortina Skyrace, a race of 20 kilometers of development and a thousand meters of unevenness: starting from the very central Corso. Italy of Cortina.

The test starts on a stretch without great unevenness, leaving the town by the bike path. From there it climbs towards the more than 2 thousand meters of altitude of Forcella Zumeles and Forcella Sonforca, then descends towards Malga Larieto, Rifugio Mietres and Col Tondo, before returning to Corso Italia for the final landing. CORTINA SKYRACE: THE RACE.

There were only 300 entries that competed in the Cortina Skyrace. Everyone was picked up just out by the Spaniard Alex García Carrillo, who set his own pace from teh very early meters and knew how to win with a new record of the route: 1h32’33 ‘. In second place, 40″ behind, arrived Alex Cavallar of Trentino de Val di Rabbi and Piedmontese Gianluca Ghiano completed the podium.

“I came out immediately strong and the enthusiasm of the people galvanized me: the arrival in Corso Italia gave me goosebumps”,says the winner, Alex García Carrillo.

“I got a nice birthday present,” said Alex Cavallar, thirty years old tomorrow, June 25. “I raced again in April and that’s why this second place is worth a lot although I regret it: without the cramps that blocked me midway through the race I could have fought with Carrillo until the last few meters.”

The women’s race, if I spoke Italian with a local runner on the podium: Marta Fabris won in 1h57’52 “. With her on the podium Chiara Fumagalli (2h02’19 “) and Piena Deiana (2h02’48”). “It was a wonderful race, for me it’s the first time here, and the victory was also wonderful,” said the winner, from Vicenza of the Asiago plateau and specialized in sports medicine in Padua. “I come from cross-country skiing and I feel good uphill and it’s precisely in the ascending stages where I won. Downhill, which is not my strong point, I just checked”.
