NIKE TERRA KIGER 7: NIKE’S TRAILRUNNIG SHOE GAINS CUSHIONING AND WEIGHT.
NIKE TERRA KIGER 7: Nike’s Trailrunning shoe gains cushioning and weight. Our TRAIL RUNNING SHOES section presents today the 2021 version of this shoe.
A shoe whose numbers are: 310 grams, 4mm drop and 3.5mm lugs. All its variables announce a shoe that seeks a balance for the popular runner, with special emphasis on complying on almost all types of terrain. Let’s go with the analysis by Mayayo.
NIKE TERRA KIGER 7
AGILE ALL TERREIN TRAIL SHOE.
The Nike Terra Kiger has been perhaps one of the most versatile shoes of the USA brand for our mountain races. Neither high nor low. Neither too light nor heavy. Neither very studded nor flat… Always looking for a versatile equlibrio for the popular corremontes.
The Kiger 5 version was a major change, so logically version 6 only applied minor changes. Now, this Nike Terra Kiger 7 does come with quite a few changes. Its cold numbers are already advancing something about it: It costs a little more, weighs a little more and, yes, maintains the same 4mm drop that already comes from years ago.
Among its usual strengths were to combine comfortable cushioning as well as we had a floor feel, very adaptable to almost all types of terrain. This 2021 version is committed to expanding the cushioning, hopefully it does not mean a disappointment for the usual of the shoe. Let’s go with the details.
As you can see below, this Nike Terra Kiger 7 arrives with a React foam midsole throughout. Complete with a Zoom Air unit on the heel. Seeking better protection and durability on technical trails, Nike has maintained the anti-theft plate. It has also redesigned the heels on the sole for better grip.
NIKE TERRA KIGER 7: DATA SHEET
As you can see, it is a versatile rolling shoe that seeks a medium balance in all its elemenos. Not light, not heavy. Neither much nor little drop, taco, cushioning… Balance would be his motto.

NIKE TERRA KIGER 7: HIGHLIGHTS
WIDER FITTING
First of all, keep in mind that your first impression when wearing them will be that this Terra Kiger is bulkier: Not only is the sole thicker, but the upper now applies a wider last. There will even be those who will want to lower a little size to maintain the usual foot fit touch.
The good news is that this more spacious roof does not sacrifice the much-needed foot blockage in technical areas or descents. The combination of textile with the Dynamic Fit system will give confidence to the popular run-in even on technical descents. But look, it’s not a shoe for extreme descents or big alpine challenges.
Interestingly, after flirting with minimalism in its early days, Nike now attaches to the wave of wider cushioning as well with the Terra Kiger. It has been decided to enhance its cushioning to make it comfortable in almost all circumstances. Thus, we went from a 23-27mm mattress to a 26-30mm. I mean, same drop but 4mm net plus to the ground.
Segmented rock plate provides more to more extra protection on technical terrain, with sharp rocks under the feet. The best thing, that according to the first impressions received, that mattress gain is not made at the expense of the touch of terrain. A well-kept detail, considering that Zoom Air mattress now under the fore foot.
As you can see below, the change of sole is very evident. The kuce sole now more rubber and larger heels for more effective grip. Logical, then, that the shoe gains weight, with the rubber of the sole being the heaviest point of any shoe.
A claim from previous models that appears to have come before now. Another improvement is that the rubber under the heel is less rigid, giving greater flexibility for a more stable grip. Total, that you will now go more at ease when you go out with it on firm terrain or simple pisteo, at the cost of a little less agility.
NIKE TERRA KIGER 7: CONCLUSION.
In short, the Terra Kiger series marks new direction with this version 7. More cushioning, more protection, better grip. A very logical bet as the market in general goes. We’ll see if this is enough to attract new customers or if, on the contrary, veterans feel a little helpless now.
