LIMONE EXTREME 2021 – SKYRUNNER® WORLD SERIES FINAL

In mid-October everyone in Limone for the finals of the Skyrunner® World Series. Save the date! On Friday October 15 and Saturday October 16, everyone will be in Limone sul Garda for a weekend that is worth an entire season. After a sabbatical year imposed by the Covid 19 pandemic, Limone Skyrunning Extreme returns as the finale of the Skyrunner® World Series circuit. That makes eight…in a row: that’s right, in the world panorama of this spectacular sport, no location can boast such a record.

NEW SPONSORS, SAME FORMAT

The new three-year partnership with Scarpa, a leading brand in the field of outdoor mountain sports, has further motivated the folks of Società Sportiva Limonese who have started working to give skyracing fans two memorable days. The opening of registrations is scheduled, as always, for early September. Among the untouchable cornerstones of the super classic event on the Brescian side of the lake will once again be the spectacular routes, breathtaking views, a lot of passion and a super final party. Also confirmed are the vertical kilometer at “Happy Hour” time on Friday and the 10k race on Saturday for skyrunner newbies and young athletes.

SKYRACE MASS START WITH A LESS GRUELING AND MORE SPECTACULAR ROUTE

It is still the finale of the Skyrunner® World Series, but it returns to the open formula on the route tested and promoted in the field in 2019. You got it right. There will be one start, with everyone running shoulder to shoulder with the strongest athletes of the category on a less rugged but even more beautiful course. A true skyrunning course will decree the king and queen of summer 2021: 22.22 km with a climb of 2052 meters. Departure and arrival will be, as always, in the striking location of Lungolago Marconi in Limone. After a two km stretch passing through the streets of Limone, the course reaches Reamòl.

This marks the beginning of the breathtaking, rugged ascent that leads first to Punta Larici and then proceeds to Passo Rocchetta. It continues on Trail 101 to Bocca Guil, then takes the spectacular trail climbing up the mountainside leading to Monte Carone (GPM of the race). The course then climbs the “chimney”: 285 steps carved into the rock. It reaches the crossroads and descends on the other side of the mountain to continue along the slight slope to the junction for Traversole. The last segment starts here, with ascents and descents to reach Dalco. The last steep descent heading to the town of Limone is the classic trail nr. 112.
