ODLO ZEROWEIGHT WARM HYBRID RUNNING JACKET: Winter running windstopper, to run warm and safe. Please remember that in autumn-winter season it is high season of hunting in many mountain areas around the world. ODLO, A REFERENT ON SPORTS CLOTHING SINCE 1947.
Although not well known in some countries yet, the originated Norwegian brand is a reference in high-end sportswear throughout Scandinavia, since it was born in Norway back in 1947. The creator, Odd Roar Lofterød, gave the brand his own name when in 1947 he began to make women’s underwear, but soon, he came up with a better idea.

His son, Odd Roar Jr., was training on the Norwegian junior speed skating team. To prevent his child from freezing cold during the training sessions, Odd Roar designed a new training suit. Soon after, his teammates and other high-level athletes wanted to try it too!

In 1963, he developed an elastic and functional ski suit for cross-country skiers and speed skaters, made out of Helanca synthetic fiber. The Norwegian Olympic Team wore the revolutionary new costume at the 1964 Innsbruck Winter Olympics; and at the 1972 Sapporo Winter Olympics there were already 22 teams in competition equipped by Odlo.

The brand moved to Switzerland in 1987, starting there, it also opened to all alpine sports: from skiing to mountaineering, and more. Today we have high-quality Odlo clothing for cross-country skiing, cycling, running, downhill skiing and almost any sport where thermal protection is important. So let’s go with this latest third-layer, focused on running warm under the cold and wind, but when it doesn’t rain.

ODLO WARM: WINTER SPORT.
The Odlo Warm range offers a very functional sportswear range, which seeks to enhance thermal insulation. Its goal is to keep the body warm when it’s cold outside. The skin stays dry and warm thanks to the properties of the fabric that transfer moisture effectively. Thermal properties are ideal for any winter activity.

CONCLUSION: BY MAYAYO.

Windstoppers are not very popular in some southern countries in Europe,
however almost every mountain runner in Central Europe and Scandinavia has one of them, which has helped to develop more functional gear, lighter, sheltered and safer. Prices vary according to the different technical features: it is obviously not the same a ultralight windstopper that another made out of a softshell and allows us to run without getting overwhelmed even at -10ºC.

Living in Cercedilla (mountain area near Madrid) for almost 20 years, running with subcero (celsius) temperatures and wind is usual for us for several months a year. This also applies when we go out to do mountain races to the Pyrenees, Alps or other massifs. It is in there where to have a membrane jacket on one side and also a thermal windstopper is very important, as one complements the other. In my case, I usually go out with both in the backpack to wear/remove according to the day conditions.

In this case, Odlo is a guarantee in first layers and third windbreaker layers, not so much in membrane jackets. This particular jacket, can be chosen in yellow, red or blue, being for me the first two the most interesting, so we can be more visible in winter.

A good windstopper jacket should combine quality fabrics, good patterning and solid finishes. For that, Odlo is among the best, no doubt.
