TRANSGRANCANARIA 2023 MARATHON RESULTS: VICTORY FOR PKEMOIO MATAYANGO & NURIA GIL. Our TRANSGRANCANARIA section continues today with the updates from Gran Canaria and now is the time of the Marathon distance.
The Kenyan Robert PKEMOIO MATAYANGO and the Spanish Nuria Gil have been the first ones arriving to the finish line in today’s race. The two runners have been followed in the podium by Roberto DELORENZI (Switzerland) and Juho YLINEN (Finland) in the men’s race and Johanna ÅSTRÖM (Sweden) and Gemma ARENAS from Spain.

This year the Transgrancanaria Marathon arrives this year with more than a thousand participants, and also scoring for the Spartan Trail World Championship. The test will be broadcast in its entirety on the Transgrancanaria YouTube channel and will include comments from professional athletes Sara Alonso, winner in 2022, and Fernanda Maciel.
The start took place this morning at 09.30 am from the iconic town of Tejeda, being the first time that it hosts the start of this modality. Until the Summit, up to 54 elite runners will travel between the female and male categories, who will compete in one of the most competitive editions in the history of the Transgrancanaria Marathon.
TRANSGRANCANARIA 2023 MARATHON RESULTS: THE RACE
MEN’S RACE
Kenyan athlete Robert Pkemoio has won the Transgrancanaria Marathon with a time of 3 hours, 25 minutes and 30 seconds on the finish line (03:25:30). He has become the first-ever African athlete to win a Transgrancanaria race throughout its 21 years of history.

Incredible performance for the Kenyan runner who reached the finish line eight minutes ahead of one of the favourites to win the race, Italian runner Roberto de Lorenzi (03:33:20), who was second on the final ranking. Finnish Juho Ylinen (03:34:19) got the bronze medal in this race which counts towards the Spartan Trail World Championship trophy.

WOMEN’S RACE
Undisputed victory for Nuria Gil in women’s category. Gil reached the finish line with a time of four hours and eight minutes (04:08:00).

The Spanish athlete reached the finish line ten minutes before Sweden’sJohanna Amströn (04:18:11). Gemma Arenas completed the podium with her third place in this female category (04:21:32).
TRANSGRANCANARIA 2023: COMPLETE PROGRAM
The Transgrancanaria 2023 will debut a new model, which will last for almost a week.
- 24FEB Friday, February 24, Tejeda will once again become one of the neuralgic points with the start of the Marathon, which will finish in Maspalomas. That same day, at 11:59 p.m., it will be the turn of the queen test, which will once again start at Las Canteras beach. The Classic recovers the 2021 route, with a slight modification in the Summit section.
- 25FEB The last of the modalities will start at 08:30 am on Saturday, February 25. The Transgrancanaria returns to the Puerto de Las Nieves de Agaete with the Advanced modality, which extends its distance to 80 kilometers and 4,500 meters of positive elevation gain. The finish line, as in the Classic, will be located in the Parque Sur of Maspalomas, a setting that repeats after the great reception it had in the last edition by runners and fans.
