TRANSVULCANIA BY UTMB 2022: VICTORIES FOR PETER ENGDAHL & ABBY HALL. Our section UTMB World Series bring us today the results of the Transvulcania 2022.

The weather forecast today will be kind in general: There will be cloud cover between 1,000 and 1,800 meters of altitude, with clear summits and high clouds. Temperatures at altitude will be low, but about 24 degrees will be waiting for you at the finish line.

At 7am local time this ultramarathon started. After her, her sisters would do the Marathon and Half Marathon, whose chronicles we leave you here before continuing with the details of the queen event.

TRANSVULCANIA ULTRAMARATHON: THE TRACK.

The Ultramarathon is the queen test of the event with 75K / D + 4735m. It runs through the backbone of the island through the GR-131 and started today Saturday at 7:00 local time from the Fuencaliente Lighthouse.
It runs entirely along the GR 131 long-distance trail, popularly known as the Ruta del Bastón, to Puerto de Tazacorte. From that point it will connect with the GR 130, Camino Real de la Costa, to the finish line, located in the Plaza de España in Los Llanos de Aridane.

The records belong to Ida Nilsson with 8h04.17 in 2017 and Luis Hernando with 6h52.49 in 2015

TRANSVULCANIA BY UTM 2022: GOLD FOR PETER ENGDAHL & ABBY HALL.

The Swedish runner, third in Transvulcania 2019, and winner of the CCC last August in Chamonix, completed the 75 km Ultramarathon in a time of 07:10:29.

In the women’s category, the American Abby Hall won the victory in a time of 08:29:10.

Petter Engdahl has been the fastest. The Swede has been able to meet the challenge that he set himself in 2019, when he came third in the last edition of Transvulcania. After 2:00 p.m. this Saturday, October 22, Engdahl has won the Ultramarathon, in a time of 07:10:29, less than two months after having crowned the CCC at UTMB® Mont-Blanc . Behind him crossed the finish line one of the most beloved athletes in the trail running community. Miguel Heras took second place in a time of 07:42:32, completing a great season after winning in Sanabria and Ultra Pirineu in less than a month. The Canarian Cristofer Clemente came in third position in a time of 07:45:32, completing the podium.

In the women’s category, Abby Hall was the winner of the queen event, and she was tenth overall, with a time of 08:29:10. The American, third in the CCC at UTMB® Mont-Blanc, had been training on the island for more than a week, along with her teammate Petter Engdalh.

After her, the Norwegian Yngvild Kasperson crossed the finish line, with a time of 08:47:03, followed by the Ecuadorian Jessica Tipan, who completed the course in 09:28:45.
