This new GARMIN ENDURO 2 comes with a high price, 1100€, almost € 200 more than before and now almost doubles the price of key rivals such as COROS VERTIX 2 or SUUNTO 9 PEAK, among others. In its favor, it provides a more capable battery, with 70h by default, which manages to extend up to 78/96h if it gets solar charged. Let’s go with the details.
GARMIN ENDURO 2:
MULTISPORT SMARTWATCH
FOR ULTRARUNNERS AND ENDURANCE ATHLETES.
Garmin has officially launched its flamboyant Garmin Enduro 2 yesterday, with a focus on ultra-endurance sports. The watch has the longest battery life on a Garmin to date: a full charge gives you 70 hours in top quality GPS mode, which according to the brand extends to 78/96 hours if you squeeze out your solar recharge.
NEW GARMIN ENDURO 2
- The maps are back. Lost in the previous version, it recovers them with the TopoActive system of worldwide coverage,
- It also provides super-bright LED flashlight, touch screen and exclusive SatIQ™ positioning technology.
- In addition, it retains the specialized functions in trail running, performance metrics, health and wellness tracking and much more that it already premiered in its first edition in 2021.
- In terms of ease of use, the watch is still remarkably light (70gr) and barely larger than the other sundials in the Garmin collection. We start analysis with its technical sheet.

GARMIN ENDURO 2: HIGHLIGHTS
ROBUSTNESS AND VISIBILITY:
With a sturdy and lightweight design at the same time, Enduro 2 seeks to facilitate the performance of a runner in the race. Proof of this is its large 1.4-inch Power Saphire screen that makes it easy to view maps, widgets and other functions, even on the move. Detail that is appreciated, undoubtedly in the race.
The new display is combined with traditional buttons that offer easy handling during activities. The watch’s strength is also visible in its lightweight and sophisticated titanium bezel and back cover. For its part, the UltraFit nylon strap provides maximum comfort and adjustability, even in extreme conditions.
THE LED FLASHLIGHT: A GOOD IDEA, BUT IS IT WORTH WHAT IT COSTS?
In an ultra never, we never have enough possible light sources that cover each other when something fails. Because it will fail, for sure… So we always support that the Garmin Enduro 2, like its brothers this year, arrives with an adjustable LED flashlight.
This is also twice as bright as that of the fēnix 7X. And as a technical boast, it offers an optional strobe mode to adapt to the runner’s cadence. It also has a safety red light mode to help the user see and be seen while running at night. For this alone, he already justifies having it. Now, those € 1,100 versus what a Fenix 7 with a similar flashlight yields, well…
MAPS ARE BACK
Garmin Enduro 2 restores these features through built-in TopoActive maps with worldwide coverage and pre-installed ski maps. And according to the brand, when the user needs additional maps of other areas, he can easily download them through Wi-Fi, without using a computer.
The use of Enduro 2 can occur in uneven terrain, sparsely populated areas or, off-grid areas. In this sense, the watch adds navigation and connectivity functions such as access to multiple global satellite navigation systems (GPS, GLONASS and Galileo) with SatIQ™ technology, which guarantees positioning accuracy in the most challenging environments while optimizing the battery life of the device.
ADVANCED TRAINING FEATURES: ADVENTURE RAIDS SPECIAL.
Enduro 2 has functions adapted to high endurance athletes that allow them to optimize their training, control their efforts in the race and track their progress so they can perform at their best.
As a novelty, the activity profile for adventure raids stands out, which records heart rate, altitude, segment times and other metrics when the race is underway. It then saves the data for viewing after the competition, according to the rules of adventure racing.
Once the competition is over, the runner, when saving the activity, will have all the records including the data of his tracks and location for his subsequent performance analysis.
To ensure the proper use of the watch, there is a verification page that shows the start and end of the activity, allowing participants to demonstrate before a race judge that the location display and GPS navigation has been kept disabled during the tour.
OTHER FEATURES
The NextFork™ map guide shows the distance to the next trail junction, as well as the name of the next trail, so users have a greater understanding of their current location.
The PacePro feature helps runners set the pace on variable terrain by displaying the equivalent running pace for each slope, allowing users to adjust their pace and maintain time during competition.
The visual race predictor provides an estimate of pace for upcoming races, based on competition history and overall fitness level. This trend data shows the impact of training over time so users can get closer to their next record.
The automatic rest timer records breaks during ultrarunning races to monitor time spent on the move or at refreshment stations, so users don’t have to worry about interrupting their run.
HEALTH SNAPSHOT. DAILY HEALTH MONITORING
The new Health Snapshot™ feature will record and report key statistics, such as heart rate, heart rate variability, breathing, and stress (2). Advanced features include Body Battery™, Physiological Age, and sleep monitoring and scoring, plus a variety of built-in indoor sports apps and GPS, such as mountain biking, swimming, hiking, running, golf, yoga, and surfing. Enduro 2 leverages these health metrics in performance features like the recovery advisor and suggested daily workouts to provide users with the tools to help them perform at their best.
GARMIN ENDURO 2: DAILY USE FUNCTIONS (PAYMENTS, MESSAGES..)
Thanks to its versatility and its multiple features, the runner will be able to make use of the watch outside the competition, as is already tradition in the catalog of the Americans.
For example, we can make contactless payments (3) through Garmin Pay, train with your favorite music thanks to the storage of songs on the watch (Eye, requires wireless headphones and devours the battery), or receive smart notifications of calls, text messages, calendar reminders, social media updates and much more.
It works the sea easily, just by linking the watch to a compatible smartphone. Also, once linked, Enduro 2 can send a message with the user’s live location to their contacts manually or automatically during certain outdoor activities, with integrated incident detection. Real-time security, welcome is.
GARMIN ENDURO 2: CONCLUSION
A technical boast from Garmin that is very welcome. It raises the price by € 200 in exchange for improving the solar load by 40% which allows you to recover maps and add news.
On a personal level, as a ultrero I see it still very niche, because for value for money-battery rivals such as its brother Garmin Fenix 7 or its rivals Coros Vertix 2 or Suunto 9 offer a remarkable equilbrio.
In any case, welcome is the enormous technical effort of Garmin, which completes with this GARMIN ENDURO 2 a relaunch of its catalog, with no less than seven current ranges, with more than a hundred new watches in this 2022.
