VOLVIC VOLCANIC EXPERIENCE 2022: REGISTRATIONS OPENED. Our TRAILRUNNING CALENDAR section bring us today the infomation about the registration opening for the 2022 VOLVIC VOLCANIC EXPERIENCE. Registration for the 2022 edition opened yesterday October 4th!

On the program for this 6th edition of the VVX there will be 6 trail experiences, 2 hikes, many cultural and fun activities for intense adventures within everyone’s reach!

VOLVIC VOLCANIC EXPERIENCE 2022:
6 TRAIL DISTANCES & 2 HIKES. 25TH-28TH MAY 2022

THE GREAT VOLCANIC VOLVIC CROSSING EXPERIENCE‘XGTV’ | 224 KM | 8400D+| PAIRED OR SOLO

A unique experience and a fabulous volcanic crossing through the largest regional natural park in mainland France: the Auvergne Volcanoes Regional Natural Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site. This ultra-endurance event takes competitors on a 224 km and 8400 D+ long crossing of the Auvergne volcanoes, taking in some of the most iconic long-distance trails in five regions, including Monts Dômes, Monts Dore, Massif du Cézallier, Massif du Cantal and Plateau de l’Artense.

This adventure race, where participants will be equipped with nothing more than a GPX-route road book to follow 95% of the long-distance trail sign-posts (red/white), requires a good sense of direction on and off the trail. The route offers a chance to discover the treasures and diversity of the different zones of the Auvergne Volcanoes Regional Nature Park.

CHAÎNE DES PUYS-LIMAGNE FAULT EXPERIENCE | 110KM | 3500D+| SOLO- 2 RELAY- 2 RELAY

TERRA VOLCANA EXPERIENCE | 80KM | 2700D+

New in 2021! This 80km course, for the toughest runners, is offered only on a solo basis. Designed on the northern part of the Chaîne des Puys, which became a UNESCO world heritage site, this race allows you to explore this exceptional region in a completely new way, thanks to the balance of scenery and ascents up some of the area’s characteristic hills. Part of the trail includes an ascent to the summit of the legendary Puy de Dôme (1,465m) to view the spectacular sunrise from Puy de la Coquille and Puy des Gouttes. The final offers you magnificent passages and viewpoints between the Plateau des Dômes, volcanic peaks and the Limagne Fault, in the footsteps of the Volvic Catchment Area Experience.

 

VOLVIC CATCHMENT AREA EXPERIENCE | 43KM | 1700D+

A trail for the initiated runners amongst you, offering a route through the northern part of the Auvergne Volcanoes Regional Park and all around the Volvic catchment area, a protected natural zone which is the source of the mineral water that takes its name. This course offers superb views of the Chaîne des Puys that stretches more than 30km towards the south, between the Limagne Fault, enclosed valleys and the Plateau des Dômes. Beautiful surprises still await you on this fifth edition!

VOLCANIC EXPERIENCE TRAIL | 25KM | 1000D+

With the Volcanic Experience trail, new distance that appeared on 2018 edition, you will pass through two active volcanic rock quarries! The trail will take you through part of the Chaîne des Puys/Faille de Limagne Experience trail to show you some of the main volcanoes in the northern part of the Chaîne des Puys, such as Puy de la Nugère, Puy de Jumes and Puy de la Coquille. Trail bonus: breathtaking views from Puy des Gouttes and others.

LAVA STONE EXPERIENCE | 15KM | 450D+

A short, accessible trail with limited climbing and natural surroundings between Volvic and its neighbouring villages. This race offers a number of exceptional panoramic views of the Chaîne des Puys, which became a UNESCO world heritage site. It crosses a prime area for Volvic stone extraction and includes unique pathways lining several of the territory’s characteristic quarries.

VVX KIDS RACE – 3 CIRCUITS OF  500, 700 AND 1 100 M

The kids have their own trail to enjoy! The race takes place on the Goulet site. It starts from the same place as the adult race: under the VVX arch. Waves of 20 children are sent off at a time: the next wave leaves as the last gets back to the starting line. Each child is allowed to complete the course as many times as they want during their allocated 20 minutes

The VVX is one step closer to nature in 2021! Since the beginning, we have been looking to reduce our environmental impact. Our actions are now recognized by a certification, the CARBON TRUST. This organization helps us realize ambitious plans to make VVX a sustainable, low-carbon event.
