ULTRA PIRINEU 2021: FOUR MOUNTAIN RACES (100K-42K-21K-KV). KILIAN & EMILIE RETURNING TO RACING. Our section TRAIL RUNNING CALENDAR celebrates the return of this classic, which will be held from on 1st-3rd October.
Bagà and the Natural Park of Cadí Moixeró will hold this weekend the Ultra Pirineu 100k; The Marató Pirineu 42K, Mitja Pirineu 21K and Nit Pirineu VK. We start with the video from within, recorded in the latest edition Ultra Pirineu in 2019. Enjoy!
ULTRA PIRINEU 2021: RACE PREVIEW
The organization plans this 2021 as an edition more adapted to the current health situation. Also designed for the post-pandemic years, more sustainable and at the same time that offers a better experience to all participants with improved routes.
The program will start with the starting gun on Friday, October 1st, where the Vertical Kilometer will begin the race weekend, and will last until Sunday, October 3rd with the SMP21k, the arrival of the last runners of the SUP100K and the delivery of trophies.
ULTRA PIRINEU 100K (100K/6.600M+)
In this edition a modification of the route hardens the SUP100K. Now it will have 100 km of distance and 6,600m of altitude gain, making it a more demanding race.
Every year, participants from more than 50 countries travel the most emblematic and spectacular high mountain sections of the Cadí-Moixeró Natural Park. Below we leave you the map and official profile for this Salomon Ultra Pirineu 100k 2021.
In this edition, 1,200 runners will vibrate the starting line of Plaça Porxada de Bagà on Saturday, October 2 at 5:30 a.m.
Favorites: Kilian Jornet confirmed that this year he will compete again in the home event, being one of the favorites to win, along with the 2019 winner Dmitry Mityaev, and internationally known elites such as Jordi Gamito, Aritz Egea and Zaid Aid Malek.
On the women’s level, 2018 winner Ekaterina Mityaeva, 2016 winner Gemma Arenas, Azara Garcia, and Laia Diez stand out.
MARATÓ PIRINEU 42K
The Salomon Marató Pirineu 42k® is one of the novelties of this edition that has not left runners indifferent, resulting from a fusion between the Salomon Trail Pirineu and the Salomon Sky Pirineu.
The layout: with 42 km and 2,800m of elevation gain, its pure trail running route, passes through some of the most iconic places of the Cadí Moixeró Natural Park such as the Niu de d’àliga, Penyes Altes or Empedrats. Below map and profile for this Salomon Marato Pirineu 2021.
The race will depart from Bagà on October 2 at 9:00 a.m.
Favorites: Among the registered elites we find Antonio Martinez, Eduard Hernández, Samuel Dávila, André Rodrigues, Ida Nilsson, Julia Font, Ines Marques, Silvia Puigarnau.
MITJA PIRINEU 21K
The Salomon Mitja Pirineu 21k changes its date to Sunday, and moves to Bagà maintaining the kilometers and increasing the slope to 1,450 meters. It offers panoramic views of the Serra d’Ensija, the Comabona and the Pedraforca. The departure, in the Plaça Porxada on Sunday, October 1 at 9:30h.
Highlights include the participation of Emelie Forsberg, Mireia Pons, Clàudia Galicia in the women’s scene, and Dani Osanz, Joel Aubeso, Josep Miret and David Nilsson in the men’s.
KILOMETRO VERTICAL MOLINA NIT PIRINEU
As every year, on Friday 1 at 7:30 p.m. in the telecabina de la Molina the fronts of the runners will be lit, starting a weekend of many emotions. The MNP KV® is a vertical night race of 860 meters of positive slope that runs 5 km between the ski resort of La Molina (gondola lift area) and the refuge of the “Niu de l’Àliga” (2520m).
