TOR DES GEANTS 2021 GOES TO SILVIA TRIGUEROS. THIRD TIME IN A ROW. Four days after Sunday’s start, the Tor des Geants 2021 Tor 330 already has champions: Silvia Trigueros (89.57) and Franco Colle (record 66h43m)

Silvia’s love story with Tor des Geants started back in 2016. The veteran winner of the Basaue Hundred Miles Ehunmilak, took herself one step beyond with the 330k/D+25.000 event all over Val d’Aosta
That first time, she already came in the top5. The following year, In 2017 we witnessed Javi Domínguez’s gold and course record, while, Silvia Trigueros took the silver, after Lisa Borzani.
Thus came along her first podium. From there, Silvia has dominated this race with an iron fist, signing three consecutive golds,
In the 2018 Tor, she was already a champion for the first time, with authority. In TOR DES GEANTS she 2019 she surpassed herself, achieving a magnificent double win with a record included, lowering the mark to 85h23m
TOR DES GEANTS 2021: STRIFE FOR TRIPLE CROWN
This 2021 Silvia led from the start, always very prominent in search of her first treble in Tor des Geants, after the victories achieved in 2018-2019.
Meanwhile, her arch rival Lisa Borzani was forced to abandon a few hours into the race. Silvia Trigueros set up such a rhythm that she also marched in some stages as ninth overall.
Within the female filed, she was always leader of the race, with the Italian Melissa Paganelli and the French Claire Bannwarth forming a theoretical podium behind her.
It goes without saying that in such a grueling event, the night stages are key, due to the cold, the sleep and the additional pressure that the giants must face. One mistake could overturn everything completely.
TOR DES GEANTS 2021: A TOUGH FINISH
Silvia had marched this 2021 at a great pace. As Olloront passed, for the 290km a new record still seemed possible. Ahead, there were still two colossi such as Col de Chaillon and the mythical final assault on Col de Malatra.
In Olloront, after 290km, Silvia ate and pondered the strategy until the finish line, already noticing the accumulated fatigue. One last night ahead, she challenged to cross the finish line with a new record.
It was not to be. Silvia continued advancing towards the goal, already very punished. The female leadership was never in danger. she because she had advantages of more than four hours to her rivals.
However, she was losing positions in the absolute as the kilometers passed and she approached the goal of Courmayeur. Finally, she would enter 13th absolute position.
Finally, Silvia crossed the line at Courmayeur as Three-time Champion for Tor des Geants 2021 in 89h57. A colossal achievement, which we must appreciate in fair measure of it.
Finishing a single Tor des Geants, with its 330k / D + 25,000m is a feat in itself. Adding, in five consecutive editions as Silvia has done, with top5 (2016) silver (2017) and three golds (2018-19-21) is a historic feat. Congratulations champion 👏👏
