NEW BALANCE FUELCELL RC ELITE V2: IN DETAIL.
The competition from running shoes is brutal nowadays. The brands are taking out shoes with carbon plate every day and more with the proximity of the Olympic Games in which we will see the latest bets of these brands in the runners who will take the first positions of races such as the marathon.
In its quest to compete to the maximum with the rest of the brands, New Balance launches its model designed for the highest competition, the RC Elite V2. Model designed to minimize efforts in marathon and that brings us greater cushioning and more energy storage than its previous version, as well as more than 4% additional energy return.
Of course, this RC Elite v2 remains the most innovative shoe in New Balance’s Fuelcell range, building on the learnings made in the sports research laboratory and the feedback from the NB team to maximize the efforts of the runners in the marathon test.
UPPER
The new KNIT UPPER, provides a lighter structure in the middle part of the foot and has a super breathable fine instep. The side logos in the middle area are 3D printed and strategically placed acting as an exosketo that covers and protects the entire structure to offer additional support and adjustment.
Maintaining a super lightweight and breathable knit construction is designed to keep the foot cool for long efforts while reducing weight. The details of the 3D printed logo add dynamic visibility and skeletal structure.
MIDSOLE
Combining New Balance’s highest-bounce midsole compound (ACL) with a full-length carbon fiber plate to maximize energy return.
ACL foam is a mixture of TPU/EVA material and different foams. With it you get a premium material and that is only found in the FuelCell family in the RC Elite v1/2, Rebel v2, Lerato and TC models.
This foam is achieved through a process that allows the granules of material to be placed in a pressurized chamber to expand, creating a super light S.G (density) with a really high energy return, but still offering smoothness and compatibility with other compounds, such as carbon plate.
It also allows to add a greater height of the midsole obtaining greater displacement, which according to the tests will increase the damping.
SOLE
Extended rubber coverage on the forefoot provides greater durability, while trimmings reduce weight and improve traction. A trimmed design in the middle area also spider a few grams of weight while showing us the carbon fiber plate. Offering us a total height of 40mm.
NEW BALANCE FUELCELL RC ELITE V2: What is new regarding the v1?
The second version of this shoe brings us a new profile with a slightly thicker midsole. With 5mm more height it allows greater displacement and increases damping. According to the brand’s tests, it offers us 9% more cushioning and 4% more energy return.
Changes in the cover through the LACE KNIT UPPER, in which the NB logo is placed on both sides of the middle area and which acts as an exosketo that covers and protects the structure of the cover, offering more stability and fastening.
The carbon plate also brings changes, especially in its curvature, which gives us a more aggressive plate in a thicker midsole. It’s the same material as the FuelCell TC and RC Elite v1, but nevertheless, it has a more exaggerated displacement or curvature that increases propulsion.
It brings us a new SOLID RUBBER sole, with 2.5mm thickness that will give us greater durability and stability, improving the previous DYNORIDE sole. This thin rubber sole will make RC Elite v2 more stable, especially now that we have a higher height and when speed is focused on the forefoot, this compound is more stable than Dynoride. In addition, the trimming of the sole reduces weight but also increases displacement and, therefore, cushioning.
Revised NB last offering a drop of 8mm, being the same last used in the RC Elite v1 and the FuelCell TC, but that has been tilted, so the height can be maximized and change the fall, giving us greater responsiveness.
NEW BALANCE FUELCELL RC ELITE V2: CONCLUSION.
A priori a super comfortable shoe, which comes to fight and fight to make a place in the shoes with carbon plate chosen for the competition of all types of marathoner. Looking for a balance between price and durability, but that can nevertheless be complemented with its sisters. The Fuelcell TC and the Fuelcell Lerato, shoes with carbon plate more intended for training and less for competition.
Chosen by the marathon athletes of New Balance for the next Olympic Games in Tokyo, we will see how they behave and what result they give. While in our #patroncarrerasdemontana will complete the test thoroughly to tell you in our channels the result.
