MERRELL TRAIL RUNNING 2021: Five pillars. Agility Peak 4, Moab Flight, Skyfire Race Day, MTL Longsky and Skyfire. Merrell comes with three great news for your mountain races. The Agility Peak 4, renovated version of the house’s ultra-thin shoe. New Merrell Skyfire Race Day to compete and the recently presented Moab Flight, heritage of the Moab saga, best selling trekking shoe.

As a novelty, one of the emblems of the brand comes back: the Agility Peak 4. A renewed version of the legendary trail running shoe for long distances. For a lighter trail, Merrell launches the Skyfire Race Day and OCR, this one for obstacle racing. Color Restyling in the MTL Long Sky and Skyfire range. And the recently presented Moab Flight, inheritance of the Moab family with more than 50Million sold worldwide.

Trail running is booming, so the American brand specializing in outdoor footwear rejuvenates and enhances their shoe range in this category with new releases for 2021.

MERREL AGILITY PEAK 4

The legendary Agility Peak returns with its 4th edition, completely renovated. With great brand visibility Merrell, it is the ideal shoe for long distances running with great protection, even on demanding terrain. This protection is thanks to the new tongue and the new halfPro® foam midsole, thicker for longer durability, but much lighter. Thanks to the Vibram® MegaGrip sole, the shoe has an incredible traction, both dry and wet. The lightness of this model is one of Merrell’s strengths.

The Agility Peak 4 also stands out for its FlexConnect ™ technology, as it adapts better to the foot and landing when running. It has a 6 mm, lugs of 5mm and incorporates a holder for the gaiter. This model is available in 3 colors for men and 2, in the specific women model. At size level, they range from number 40 to 51 in man and from 36 to 43 in female. It weight is 290 grams for the size 43EU and the price is 140 €.

MERRELL MTL SKYFIRE RACE DAY

The following novelties from Merrell on trail running come from the Skyfire family, which is already known, which together with the Long Sky, have been renewed with new colors. Both are MLT (Merrell Test Lab) models, tested by Merrell athletes for their development.

Specifically at Skyfire’s level, the highlight is the MTL Skyfire Race Day. It is the perfect competition shoe for athletes, very light, with the most breathable part, allowing greater water evacuation, with Quantum Grip ™ outsole for a perfect traction in high-difficulty terrain, a drop of 6,5mm, a weight of 262 g. for the size 43EU and veggie-friendly. Its cost is 115 €.

MERRELL SKYFIRE OCR TOUGH VIKING.

Finally, the other novelty of the Skyfire is the MTL Skyfire Tough Viking, the ideal model for obstacle racing. An almost perforated mesh allows to run on terrain with more mud and water, allowing a total evacuation of water, as well as a maximum breathability of the foot.

Logically it also has more protection for this type of racing and is made of very resistant materials, among them an anti-rock plate in the middle sole to protect from the irregularities of the terrain. The heel part is much thinner than that of your Skyfire family sisters, and their sole with more grip, Merrell’s Quantum Grip will allow a superior grip on decomposed terrain. It has a 6mm drop, 5mm lugs and it weight is 255 g for the size 43EU and a price of 125 €.

MOAB FLIGHT.

Merrell launches this new trail model, within the Moab family: Moab Flight. It is a shoe that is born with wide cushioning, designed to give safety to the runner on any type of track and for long distances.
Let’s go with the technical details:

It comes with a recommended price € 125, for a 10mm drop. A somewhat high level today, to help those who do not have a refined technique or for long runs where fatigue makes us heel over. The FloatPro midsole and the Vibram EcoDura outsole with 3mm lugs, confirm that it is designed for firm ground, from asphalt to forest tracks and compact trails. There are different versions Men / women: 4 colors for men and 3 for women. The sizing goes from 36 to 41 in women and from 40 to 51 in men, with half sizes. The Weight depends on the version: The 43 for man is 277 g. while the 37.5 for women, 233 grams.
