The Kilian´s Classik 2012: 7-8 July at Font-Romeu, Pyrenees. Races 25k/45k
Salomon Running Team invited us last year to train, race and share some days with its top athletes at Font-Romeu for the Kilian´s Classik. The secenery and atmosphere of the festival there were so enticing that, despite it being just north of the spanish border, we cannot but recommend it as it comes up for this 2012 edition
KILIAN´S CLASSIK RACES FOR 2012: 25KM / 45KM
Saturday, July 7th Two trail running Races to choose from, the departure of both will be given in the streets of Font Romeu. The 2 courses are of 25 and 45 kilometers between 1000 and 2000 meters altitude close to the summits of the Pyrenees. The track will bring you then onto the training paths of Kilian Jornet above the Bouillouses lake by way of the valley of the Grave, the ponds of Carlit, the Blue ponds, the plateau of the Calme.
The altitude changes of these races will oscillate between 1100 and 2000 meters and will propose variations of ground surfaces appropriate for our territory between the pine forests, the grassy plateaus and the rocky crests of a wild region with grand panoramas. The proposed courses will be characteristic of trail running with the possibility of running in the middle of nature throughout the whole race.
Sunday, July 8th with a “leisure” day consisting of a trail running 10 km, kids’ race from 1.5 to 3.5 km, and a downhill session
Departure at 10 am in the town center for 10 km (free for the runners of Saturday), kids’ race from 11 am at the chalet of the Calme, then a downhill running initiation from noon with access by the chairlift of the Calme. This day is accessible to all and placed under the sign of friendship and conviviality.
KILIAN´S CLASSIK 2012 PROGRAM
Friday 6th July:
10 am until 9 pm, you can pick up your numbers from the village exhibition, place des Contes de Cerdagne in the center of Font Romeu
Saturday the 7th:
6 am to 8 am: withdrawal of the last numbers. NO REGISTRATION POSSIBLE
From 8 am: Welcome of the runners and checking of bags
9 am: Joint Start of the 25 and 45 km races from the town center Font Romeu
9:30 am to 6:30 pm: Opening of the village exhibitors on the place des Comptes de Cerdagne, the registrations in the races for Sunday, musical animations, and sessions of autograph dedications…
11:30 am: arrival of the first runners of the 25 km in town center of Font Romeu
1:30 pm: arrival of the first runners of 45 km in town center of Font Romeu
From 2 pm: Catalan meal with lamb on the brooch (compulsory reservation)
5pm: snack offered with Percubidons
6 pm: arrival of the last runners and awards ceremony on the place des Contes de Cerdagne
10 pm: official Salomon evening open to all, free entrance with your race number to the Casino of Font Romeu.
Sunday the 8th:
10 am: departure of the 10 km from the town center
11 am: departure of the kids’ races, brass band show
12 noon: Downhill session, initiation in the descent with Kilian on the tracks of the Calme, riding up in the chairlifts
From 1 pm on: a rich picnic in the Calme (reservation compulsory) with signing sessions from the Salomon Team.
2:30 pm: closing address of the Kilian’s Classik 2012
Don’t forget also that the international Team Salomon will be present in Font Romeu from Tuesday, July 3rd for a week of Running Camp. They will make some time available for discussions, sessions of dedications, press conferences…
