SPEEDGOAT MOUNTAIN RACES 50k
Women ‘s race
Lowther, 32, ran a strategic race alongside second-place finisher, American Mali Noyes, until the final aid station, where she surged ahead to claim victory. Noyes finished with a time of 6:22:31, followed by Kodi Kleven, also from the U.S., who completed the podium with a time of 6:24:12. Both are multi-time Speedgoat 50k finishers, with Noyes having been second also last year and Kleven moving up to a podium finish this year.
Men’s race
In the men’s race, 24-year-old Hendry kept pace with eventual winner David Sinclair of the U.S. until the halfway mark. Sinclair pulled ahead to set a new course record of 4:57:35. That’s way up on Christian Allen’s 5:23 2023 winning time and better than Adam Peterman’s 5:04 2021 course record. Sam Hendry (Canada) and Scott Patterson were second and third in 5:24 and 5:32
David Sinclar (USA – 52km – first place male):
“I kind of nailed the pacing, nailed the nutrition, nailed the cooling strategy. It was a perfect day out there. I just love this race, one of the hardest 50k’s in the country. It’s got a little bit of everything: beautiful scenery, hard technical parts, a couple runnable smooth sections.”
SPEEDGOAT MOUNTAIN RACES 28k
The 28K is held on the exact same trails as the signature 50K route, giving runners the same captivating views at the summit of Snowbird. This challenging race brings 6,500 feet of elevation gain.
Robyn Lesh narrowly defeated Sarah Carter by just over a minute. Lesh finished the race with an impressive time of 3:34, while Carter closely followed at 3:35. Jaycie Thomsen secured third place, completing the race in 3:54.
Robyn Lesh (USA – 32km – first place female):
“This race is a lot of fun! You go running quick and then go up a mountain, down the other side, back up and straight down the front side. So pretty much after the second hidden peak you just send it at full speed.”
On the men’s side, Hawk Call, who finished second at last week’s U.S. Mountain Running Championships, emerged victorious with a time of 3:13. Cole Besser and Blaise Miller rounded out the podium, finishing in 3:19 and 3:22, respectively.
