RESULTS GOLD KORTAZAR AND DELORENZI

The Gorges du Tarn SkyRace is the only race of its kind in the Massif Central, halfway between the Pyrenees and the Alps. The 24 kilometre race with 2,000 meters of elevation gain is challenging for its technical, rocky trails and wild vegetation, all set in a unique landscape recognised by UNESCO.

The Gorges du Tarn SkyRace is part of the Lozère Trail weekend which celebrated its 22st edition this year. The Lozère Trail consists of five events adapted to all levels with over 1,400 participants in total.

THE RACE

25km / 1900m+. Race starts at 11.00am from Ste-Enimie (town center). Finishing in Ste Enimie.

Women’s race

In the women’s race, Kortazar dominated from beginning to end, crossing the finish line with a new course record of 2h51’58”. Despite Therese Arvik of Norway initially crossing the finish line second, a thirty-minute penalty was issued by the official ISF referee due to taking the wrong route. Consequently, second place went to Julia Font, also of Spain (team Brooks), with a time of 2h54’57”.

Kortazar expressed her joy after the race, stating: “It feels amazing to win here. It was a short and technical course with many climbs and technical parts that I didn’t expect but it was so beautiful. Until kilometre 11, I was really struggling but after that I felt good and in the last four kilometres I felt my best and was able to finish strong with a good time, so it was a satisfying win for sure.

Men’s race

In the men’s race, Roberto Delorenzi from Switzerland secured his third victory of the season with a new course record of 2h19’26”. Delorenzi led the race from start to finish. With this win, Delorenzi has now completed four races and meets the qualifications for the final race, Marato del Dements, in November. Antonio Martínez from Spain (team Asics) finished closely behind in second place, just 10 seconds later.

Delorenzi shared his thoughts on the race, saying: “The race went well today. This kind of up and down course really suits me. My strategy was to start fast and gain a gap and then try to keep that until the end, and it worked! I was happy I could manage to do it. Three out of four wins this year in the Merrell Skyrunner World Series circuit is something special.

The standout performances of the race came from young talents Carrodilla Cabastre and Iu Net, both from Spain and representing Team La Sportiva. These under-23 athletes amazed everyone by securing third place in the overall rankings, competing against a field of seasoned elite runners.

Cabastre was overcome with emotion as she finished. She remarked, “This is a dream come true. I’ve been watching skyrunning at home for years, dreaming of the day I could reach the podium, and today that dream came true. It was a beautiful race and a pleasure to compete against such strong women.

Net shared his excitement as well, saying, “I stayed with Antonio and Jan throughout the race, with Antonio setting the pace. Achieving a podium finish in my first Skyrunner World Series race is almost unbelievable. I’m thrilled that things went well today and look forward to the rest of the season.
