SKYRACE DES MATHEYSINS: SKYRUNNING 2024. RESULTS GOLD MAGUET AND RUBTSOVA. Our SKYRUNNING section bring us today the results of the SkyRace des Matheysins.
The skyrunning world experienced an electrifying showcase of talent and grit as Nadir Maguet from Italy and Anastacia Rubtsova triumphed at the esteemed Skyrace des Matheysins, in the French Alps.

RESULTS GOLD MAGUET AND RUBTSOVA
Skyrace des Matheysins, known for its rugged terrain and stunning scenery, drew elite athletes from across the globe to push their limits in the heart of the French Alps. Against the backdrop of towering peaks and expansive valleys, Nadir Maguet and Anastacia Rubtsova showcased their talent and stamina, conquering the challenging course with remarkable speed and precision.
Men race
Nadir Maguet, representing team La Sportiva from Italy, demonstrated his mountain expertise with a dominant performance. Despite starting in fourth place, until kilometre 10, Maguet climbed through the ranking until he reached the final descent in 2nd place, just minutes behind Frederic Tranchand of France (team Scott). It wasn’t until Tranchand took a wrong turn just two kilometres from the finish line that Maguet came into first place and secured his new title as the 2024 Skyrace des Matheysins champion with a time of 2h25’43”.
Daniel Antonioli of Italy secured second place, finishing just 90 seconds behind Maguet, followed by Spain’s Manuel Merillas, two minutes adrift.
Women race
In the women’s category, Anastacia Rubtsova exhibited remarkable tenacity and athleticism, surging ahead of her competitors and leaving them behind. Despite a three-day journey to reach the race start and racing in new Merrell test shoes, Rubtsova’s determination propelled her to victory. Crossing the finish line with a winning time of 2 hours, 53 minutes, and 52 seconds, she finished seven minutes ahead of France’s Alice Bausseron. Bailey Kowalczyk of the USA made a remarkable comeback to claim third place, ten minutes behind Rubtsova, after falling back to sixth position at the top of the final summit, Le Tabor. until kilometre 10, Maguet climbed through the ranking until he reached the final descent in 2nd place, just minutes behind Frederic Tranchand of France (team Scott). In the Under 23 category, Lorenzo Rota of Italy delivered an outstanding performance, securing a top-ten finish overall and earning the 2nd U23 winner’s bib of the season. Carrodilla Cabestre of Spain emerged as the female U23 winner of the day.

SKYRACE DES MATHEYSINS: SKYRUNNING 2024.
THE RACE
After a fairly rolling start, you will pass fairly quickly at the 1st refreshment point (6.2 km / 590 mD+), then, 1 km further, after crossing the Jonche, you will attack the Sentier du Diable. Very beautiful single which winds along the mountainside and which will allow you to access the first summit of the route, the Pérollier (2183 m alt.)
The slightly technical descent that follows takes you to the 2nd refreshment point (10.6 km / 1320 mD+), at the Col de l’Oullière. Intermediate time score.
You then attack the fairly steep climb towards the Oreilles de Loup. Technical passages, with fixed ropes and protective nets, steep descent, chamois trail then ascent in the snow to the Col du Tabor, before returning to the ridge and completing the climb to Tabor (2389 m alt. .). Another 2.5 km of ridges to the last summit, the Piquet de Nantes (2216 m alt.), and it’s the descent…
The first 200 m of D- are quite steep, before diving into the undergrowth on a magnificent, very fast single. The penultimate km is flat, and the last km is slightly downhill.
