ISMF BORNIO YOUTH WORLD CUP 2024: SPAIN THREE GOLD MEDALS. Our SKI MOUNTAINEERING section bring us the last news from the Bormio Youth World Cup.

Spanish skimo athletes, grabbed three of the four gold medals of the 2024 ISMF Bormio Youth World Cup. Laia Selles (ESP, U18 Women), Julia Pujol (ESP, U18 Men), Biel Pujol (ESP, U20 Men) and Eva Matejovicova (CZE, U20 Women) performed at their best on the course.

SPAIN WON THREE GOLD MEDALS

U18 Women

Laia Selles continued to rule the U18 women’s category at the Youth World Cup in Mountain Skiing. The Spanish athlete, who arrived as European champion in Sprint, Vertical and Individual, took gold with ease, leaving no doubts in the qualification, semi-final or final race. Silver was claimed by Swiss athlete Lynn Pollinger and the Swiss Enya Summermatter was Bronce, with Aina Garreta and Erola Rocias of Spain finishing in fourth and fifth. Vanessa Marca of Italy rounded up the top six.

U18 Men

In the U18 men’s race, Julia Pujol of Spain was very far ahead, winning the qualifying round, heat, semi-final and final. Pujol was the only U18 participant to clock under three minutes in all four consecutive races. Arno Mooser (SUI) and Umberto Ferrazza (ITA) winning the silver and bronze. While Inigo Velazquez from Spain was just off the podium in fourth, with Marek Foltyn (CZE) fifth and Enricco Pellegrini (ITA) sixth.

U20 Women

In the Women’s U20 category, Eva Matejovicova, the bronze medallist at the recent European Championships, clinched victory with a thrilling descent on the icy slope of Bormio. This marked her first major victory in the young category. Louise Trincaz (FRA) secured the silver medal, while Lea Ancion (AND) finished in third place. Clizia Vallet (ITA), Louise Rigaud (FRA), and Berta Guitart (ESP) claimed the fourth, fifth, and sixth positions, respectively.

U20 Men

Moving on to the Men’s U20 race, Biel Pujol, the elder brother of Julia Pujol, dominated the event, securing his first victory at the Youth World Cup. Erik Canovi (ITA) and Hermann Debertolis (ITA) claimed the second and third spots, making it a successful day for Italy. Max Palmitjavilla (AND), Jules Raybaud (FRA), and Mael Brun (FRA) rounded up the top six.
