TORX 2023
TOR330 – Tor des Géants
She took the lead of the ranking since Monday morning before Donnas, and never let it go, creating an enormous distance from the others, until the final jubilation at 20.21. Emma Stuart, the “running vet”, won Tor des Géants® on her first appearance, finishing in 82h21’44”. A perfect race, without hesitations, with a great ability to manage it and to beat other athletes more used to the Aosta Valley trails.
Quite a newcomer in the trail running world – in 2019 her first ultramarathon, the 50km Manx Mountain Marathon, with a surprising second position – the British this year got a prestigious third place at Lavaredo Ultra Trail, winning two 100-mile, Ultra-Trail Snowdonia and The Arc of Attrition, where she was fourth overall.
“It’s a beautiful race, but so difficult and beautiful – she said. I struggled at some points, had problems with sleep deprivation. But I enjoyed it and I will definitely come back”.
Jocelyne Pauly never gave up, and even hoped until the end to grab a victory with a comeback on Emma Stuart. After the second place in 2019, the rendezvous with the victory of Tor des Géants® is just postponed. She is expected in the evening, together with the third, with a battle between Sophie Grant and Elisabetta Negra.

TOR130 – Tot Dret
Likewise, Daniel Jung too hit the target with the first shot winning TOR130 – Tot Dret on his debut, thanks a total control of the race from the very beginning. The Italian attacked immediately since the start in Gressoney, running constantly both in line with the times by Henri Grosjacques (22h06’31” last year without Col Brison) and by Giuliano Cavallo (23h01’25” in 2019). Jung arrived in Courmayeur after 21h11’04”, new record of the race.
“I wanted to run under 20 hours, that was my purpose – said Jung – but I immediately realized that the route was much more technical than I imagined, and the ground was very muddy. Moreover, I also had stomach problems, I threw up many times and couldn’t eat for many hours”.
Small inconveniences that did not stop Jung’s march, really impressive this year, with 5 wins in 7 races (Valgrosina Trail 72k, Gletscher Trail 62k, Villacidro Skyrace 57k, Costabrava Stage Run 118k and TOR130 – Tot Dret 2023). Behind him, Régis Ruchaud (22h09’16”) and Gael Jeannet (23h02’30”).
Enrica Dematteis is currently leading the women ranking, getting rid of Agnese Valz Gen, 20 minutes behind her in Bosses. Third, at the moment, Christine Tousch. Their arrival is expected tonight, Wednesday 13 September.
