CANFRANC CANFRANC MARATHON 45k : Gold Peter Frano and Charlotte Morgan. The Canfranc-CanfranC celebrates its 15th edition this year, as a race whose reputation has been growing in recent years.

The international association WMRA and the national federation RFEA have chosen their Marathon, as the venue for the Long Distance World Cup and the National Masters Championship, respectively. This is how they were leaving this morning.

WMRA WORLD CUP AND SPAIN RFEA CHAMPIONSHIP.

Canfranc’s 2021 program includes up to five races: 5k (juniors) 16k, 45k, 75k and 100k. Among them, Canfranc will host two World Cup races this weekend: the WMRA LONG DISTANCE to be held in the 45k / D + 4,000m marathon on Saturday. CANFRANC CANFRANC MARATHON: THE LAYOUT The long distance event in the 45k race has an incredible ascent of 4,000m, which is divided into 4 climbs. Runners face a 1400m climb from the canyon, which should help create early breaches. Then they will face 3 climbs over 800 m, 600 and finally 250 m.

There are some really outstanding local and international athletes taking part, which is sure to shake up the World Cup qualification further.

WMRA LONG DISTANCE :

In the 45k race stand out Peter Frano (SVK), winner of Tatra SkyMarathon this year, and Raul Criado (ESP), who was third in Tatra SkyMarathon and has already signed several silvers here. Ugaitz Artola (ESP) will lead the always talented field of Basque runners in this race. Charlotte Morgan (GBR) shines in the women’s race.

The 2018 WMRA Long Distancfe world champion currently ranks third in the World Cup after winning Tatra Race Run, plus bronze at Tatra SkyMarathon. At the halfway point of the race, after almost 3 hours of it, Raül leads the men’s ppr in front of rivals such as Morales and Frano.

In the female category, Charlotte Morgan lives up to her status as a favorite and goes through the lead. Unlike Raúl, the British woman runs without poles because she is not used to using them.

This 2021 also, Canfranc Canfranc is in luck as it will host two RFEA Spanish Championships.
