VAL D’ARAN BY UTMB: THE FIRST EDITION OF VAL D’ARAN BY UTMB TO BE POSTPONED TO JULY 2021.

The first edition of Val d’Aran by UTMB, which was scheduled to take place between July 3 and 5, is postponed to 2021. The organization has made the decision to postpone the event until July 2021 jointly with the health authorities and in coordination with the UTMB Group, due to the exceptional situation caused by the Covid-19 pandemic .

Our priority is the safety of the participants and the inhabitants of the Val d’Aran. In the current context, it is preferable to postpone the race in order to prioritize health and logistics guarantees. In addition, we want to respect the dates of other events scheduled after the summer, avoiding overlap and allowing our riders to participate in those that are held, “says Xavier Pocino, Director of Val d’Aran by UTMB.

Val d’Aran by UTMB will be held on July 9, 10 and 11 of next year, keeping all the distances and scheduled events: Torn dera Val d’Aran (162 km), Camins de Hèr (105 km) and Peades dera Aigua (55 km) , as well as complementary activities, the Baqueira Beret Trail Festival and the Sky Baqueira Beret (15 km). The registrations made for this year will be kept for the new call for July 2021 . “At the beginning of April we sent out a survey to all of our runners as their opinion is very important to us. The response rate was very high, above 2,500, and the vast majority showed interest in returning in 2021. For all this, we face the future with great optimism and we are confident that we will live up to your expectations, ” explains Pocino.

In accordance with the official regulations of the event, the organization offers those who decide to cancel their registration, a refund of 100% of the amount if they have cancellation insurance and 75% to those who did not have it. They will all receive reimbursement from accident insurance. On the web , participants can be checked all the details.

As of today, the event, which is part of the international Ultra-Trail World Tour trail running circuit, had covered the bib numbers available for the 55km race, the Peades dera Aigua . In addition, with just over two months to go, it already exceeded 85% of those registered in the other two events, with a total of 3,700 registered runners, from more than 70 countries, 56% of them from abroad. from Spain.

The Val d’Aran by UTMB is a magnificent showcase for the Val d’Aran and the Pyrenees, and we are already working to carry out a historic 2021 edition. For us, bringing UTMB to the Val d’Aran is a dream and that the Pyrenees have been chosen to carry out their first race in Europe outside the Alps is an immense responsibility ”, details Pocino. “This parenthesis is going to allow us to work hard on this first edition, carefully studying the new scenario to pick up ideas that we had parked and that will continue to fuel the desire for mountains and transmit the values and passion that characterize Val d´Aran by UTMB® ” concludes Xavier Pocino.

Next October , Val d’Aran by UTMB will reopen registrations and participants will be able to make changes in the distance chosen for the 2021 edition if they wish.
