MAXI-RACE ANNECY 2020: NEW MARATHON-RACE 3rd STAGE IN

THE GOLDEN TRAIL NATIONAL SERIES

The new Marathon-Race, 42km with 3400m of vertical gain and drop, will include a much more challenging course reserved for mountain trail runners with a more competitive mindset looking for points and results. The starting line will be along the lake in Talloires. The course will begin with a steep uphill section and throws one thigh-pounding descent after another at runners for a truly unforgettable race. The new-and-improved Marathon Race will only share 15km of trails with the Marathon-eXperience, primarily the final kilometers of the course. Registration will be limited to 1000 runners who have a minimum of 450 ITRA points. This race will be part of the 2020 Golden Trail National Series.

The new format for the Marathon-Race makes it one of the major stages in the Golden Trail National Series. Among the already registered competitors, 11 runners in the men’s category have more than 800 ITRA points.

The list of elite racers includes several Frenchmen: the winner of the 2019 MaXi-Race, Michel Lanne (869 ITRA pts), a frequent podium finisher at the MaXi-Race. Gautier Airiau (866 ITRA pts), Julien Michelon (856 ITRA pts), Anthony Felber (839 ITRA pts), Nathan Jovet, and Alexandre Depeche figure among the favorites, as well as Gédéon Pochat (815 ITRA pts), who has participated in every MaXi-Race since 2014 and really enjoys the trails around Lake Annecy.

As of today, the women’s field of elites proves much more international. Mauritian runner Marie Perrier (703 ITRA pts) and German runner Romy Mey (659 ITRA pts) will compete against Frenchwomen Anne-Lise Desjacques (654 ITRA pts) and Andrea Canaud (621 ITRA pts). American Alexandra Earle (635 ITRA pts) will also test her mettle on this new race course!
