The global trail running calendar for 2017 moves on. After sharing the 23 races that will form Ultra Trail World Tour 2017, today we bring you those 23 that are part of Skyrunner World Series 2017, arriving with new formats, new races and more money for elite runners.

SKYRUNNER WORLD SERIES 2017: RANKINGS AND CALENDAR

There will be three categories: Sky Classic with eleven races, including Zegama Aizkorri y Buff Epic Trail. Extreme Series now growing up to four races plus the Ultra with a further eight, including Transvulcania y UltraPirineu.

At Trailrunningspain.com, together with our sister website in spanish Carrerasdemontana.com we brought you live all four in 2014, 2015 and 2016. Stay with us to follow them in 2017 as well.

RANKING PER SERIES: The final ranking per category will take into account the best five results in the Classic, best two in Extreme and three in the Ultra. It must be also noted that the Vertical series hereby launches off on its own, going down a new road whose details will soon be released.  Final annual prize money per each includes 5.000€ per gold, 2.500€per silver, 1.500€ per bronze at the Classic and Extreme, plus 4.000€, 2.000€ and 1.000€ at the Ultra.

OVERALL RANKING: Besides the three series, there will also be a new general overall ranking. To participate will require having finished at least one race per series. Among those races finished the best reslt per series shall be counted and the last twoo added will be the next best achieved in Classic and/or Extreme. Prize money for this includes 5.000€, with a “winner takes it all” focus.

SKY CLASSIC: Eleven races, ranging in distance from the 21k at Comapedrosa to the 46k at Zermatt. Rankings include 20% bonus points given out at Zegama, Matterhorn and Limone. The title goes to the best  five results among the eleven races.

• July 8 Buff Epic Trail 42KM, Spain
• July 22 Dolomites SkyRace, 22 km, Canazei, Italy
• July 30 SkyRace Comapedrosa, 21 km, Andorra
• August 26 *Matterhorn Ultraks «46K», Zermatt, Switzerland
• September 2 The Rut 25K, Montana, USA
• September 16 Salomon Ring of Steall Skyrace, 29km, Kinlochleven, UK
• October14 *Skyrunning Extreme – 23 km, Limone sul Garda, Italy

SKY EXTREME: Four races for the most technical and diferential category in Skyrunning. The winner comes out of the best tow results, with Tromso enjoying a 20% bonus for the rankings.

• August 5 *Tromsø SkyRace®, 53 km, Tromsø, Norway
• September 17 Salomon Glen Coe Skyline, 55 km, Kinlochleven, UK
• August 26 Matterhorn Ultraks «X-K», Zermatt, Switzerland – TBC subject to course

       SKY ULTRA: Up to eight ultras here, including spanish Transvulcania and Ultrapirineu, ranging in length from the 50k at The Rut to the 113k offered at the new addition at Lugano. High Trail Vanoise wil be the one to enjoy a 20% bonus here and winner comes out of the best three results.
