PICOS DE EUROPA: OCHO LUNAS MULTISTAGE ULTRA TRAIL AT NATIONAL PARK. (300K/D+40.000m/June11-18)

The Picos de Europa massif in northern Spain always provide a framework of great beauty for trail running and mountain lovers: Rugged terrain, charming villages and most usually high technical demands per kilometer. Names of races like Travesera de Picos, Desafío El Cainejo or Transvaldeónica are well known and highly regarded by aficionados.
This 2016 will see the first major multi-stage ultra trail race through Picos de Europa: After several failed projects from various organizations, registrations open on January 1st at 10AM for Ocho Lunas de Picos. With national trail legend Salva Calvo colaborating to find the best route, according to the national park regulations, the eight stages will allow a full circuit 300k /D+40,000m, following classic mountain trails in the area, marked as GR / PR.
