The IV Cross Alpino Peña del Tren shall take off tomorrow 11AM from the village of Torneros de la Valdería, in the mountains of Leon (northern spain, 400k from Madrid) Many of the top trail runners from Spain shall be there to challenge it other over a most rugged course. Salvador Calvo, Manuel Merillas, Pablo Villa, Ivan Ortiz… See below the teaser video for 2012. It might help understand why so many of the top spanish runners choose year after year to end their season at this race.

Winners in 2011 were veteran mountain runners Jorge Aubeso and Oihana Kortazar, struggling under snow and heavy weather. This year, the sun seems likely to shine over the race, and make it all the more enjoyable.
