ADIDAS SUPERNOVA RISE 3
RUNNING SHOES – 35MM HEEL
The Adidas Supernova saga represents the core of Adidas’ daily training running shoes. It closes out 2025 with a full house of queens that we’ll be analyzing in detail over the coming days. We start with the Adidas Supernova Rise 3 (€150), followed by its sisters: Supernova Solution 3 (€150), Supernova Rise ATR (€150) and Supernova Rise GTX (€170).
Designed for runners seeking to combine comfort, durability and versatility for daily mileage and steady training sessions, these four “sisters” cover different needs within the same segment. The Supernova range clearly sits below the more racing-oriented Adizero line in terms of responsiveness and weight, yet above more basic models in cushioning and all-round performance. This positions the Supernova family as a competitive option against mid-range daily trainers from rival brands.
In terms of stack height, weight and intended use, the asphalt-approved Supernova Rise 3 features an 8 mm drop, heights around 37 mm at the heel and 29 mm at the forefoot, and a weight of approximately 272 g in the men’s version, lighter in the women’s model. The Solution 3 adds a greater focus on stability, with slightly higher weight at around 280 g and similar stack and drop figures. The ATR and GTX versions adapt the Rise platform to light off-road use or waterproof protection respectively, without radically changing its daily training character.
ADIDAS SUPERNOVA RISE 3: TECHNICAL OVERVIEW
- The recommended retail price remains at €150, which is appreciated in the current market context.
- Weight stays consistent at 272 g for men and 230 g for women.
- The drop is reduced to 7 mm, a welcome change from the previous 10 mm, offering a less aggressive heel-to-toe angle while still cushioning excessive heel striking.
- Stack height is now 28–35 mm, gaining 2 mm at the forefoot and losing 1 mm at the heel, a logical move that improves running efficiency and discourages overstriding. As a curiosity, the official women’s version lists 29–37 mm.
- The upper introduces a new engineered mesh, while the midsole continues with Dreamstrike+ foam.
- The outsole now incorporates Lighttraxion rubber, a clear step forward within Adidas’ lineup.
- The shoe is available for both men and women in at least two colorways each.
WHAT STANDS OUT IN THE SUPERNOVA RISE 3
Personally, I see the 2025 changes as small but well-judged adjustments that align with the real needs of the mainstream running pack this shoe is aimed at.
The first major technical update compared to previous generations lies in the cushioning profile and overall geometry. The revised stack and an 8 mm drop aim to enhance shock absorption and smooth transitions during longer runs without sacrificing responsiveness.
The pairing of Dreamstrike+ foam with the Lighttraxion outsole is key here. Dreamstrike+ delivers progressive cushioning and competitive energy return within the daily trainer segment, while Lighttraxion balances grip, durability and reduced weight for asphalt and hard urban surfaces. In just two years, both elements have clearly improved, and credit is due.
Fit and upper construction have also seen subtle refinements, focusing on sustained comfort over long mileage. In my experience, this 2025 version maintains the familiar, comfortable Adidas last right out of the box, prioritizing lateral stability over the firmer compression feel found in some rival daily trainers.
On the run, I’d expect smooth transitions and reliable grip even when picking up the pace slightly beyond purely easy runs. That said, it remains a mid-weight shoe that has no intention of competing with true fast trainers. Instead, it offers balanced performance across moderate paces, placing comfort ahead of any extreme responsiveness.
ADIDAS SUPERNOVA RISE 3 REVIEW BY MAYAYO.
In my view, the Supernova Rise 3 is a solid option as a neutral daily training shoe in the €150 range. Its balance of cushioning, long-term comfort and ability to absorb repeated impact makes it especially well suited for higher-volume training, long runs and active recovery days.
It’s not designed to chase personal bests over 10K or fast half marathons, but it competes well with many models in terms of overall comfort and usable response without compromising stability. For runners looking for a single shoe to cover most weekly training sessions, without overly soft or radical sensations, this is a technically sound argument.
Compared to its siblings, the Solution 3 leans more toward stability with a slight weight penalty, while the ATR and GTX versions extend usability to mixed terrain or wet conditions, albeit with clear compromises compared to the Rise 3 on pure asphalt.
In short, I think it’s a worthwhile purchase if….
- you’re comfortable with Adidas’ fit and need a versatile, comfortable daily trainer, especially if your weekly mileage is high and you want to minimize fatigue without giving up a modern, efficient road platform.
- It also makes a strong first companion for runners just starting out who want a proven, high-quality shoe for long runs. Over the past two years, the Supernova Rise has clearly refined its geometry and improved its components in a meaningful way.

OUTLOOK FOR ADIDAS SUPERNOVA RISE 4.
Unless surprises are in store, it will likely be like Christmas nougat, returning once again next holiday season. I’d bet it keeps that €150 price tag, and I hope Adidas manages to shave a little weight off, because after the last two years, what’s needed isn’t a revolution but fine-tuning. I’m curious to hear how you see it too.
