SKYRUNNING 2026:

SKYRUNNER WORLD SERIES CALENDAR, BY MAYAYO.

With the calendar in hand, the Skyrunner World Series 2026 unfolds as a global journey driven by vertical stride, guided by rules designed to reward consistency and courage, and composed of races that embody the raw, spectacular essence of modern skyrunning.

The year will open in Argentina on February 22 with a new addition promising epic stories: 4 Refugios, making its debut on the Series. The route crosses the rugged Andean Patagonia, a land of rock, lakes and unpredictable winds. Just a few weeks later, on March 7, athletes will leap continents to land in Chile, where the Andes Mountain Skyrace returns to test runners on volcanic terrain, stern and lofty, the kind where every foothold matters as the mountain range unfolds like an endless curtain.

MOVING ON TO EUROPE

From there, the European season begins to take shape on March 14 with Acantilados del Norte in Spain, a race that winds through a dramatic coastal ridge where the sea roars below and the technical ground challenges every ankle. On April 11, also in Spain, comes Calamorro Skyrace, a classic defined by steep terrain and fast rhythm, playful yet demanding. On April 26 the circuit jumps to Southeast Asia for Penang Skyrace, where humidity, roots and relentless jungle climbs shape a tropical challenge.

May will feature an alpine double. On May 3, Skyrace des Matheysins in France brings endless ridges, late-season snow and spectacular views. On May 4, Ueda Skyrace in Japan blends the country’s deep mountain tradition with steep trails that rise like brush strokes toward forest temples. The month will close back in France, on May 23, with Skyrace des Gorges du Tarn, where runners traverse natural balconies carved by the river as the limestone glows under oblique light.

June 20 belongs to China with Yading Skyrace, a sacred high-altitude race surrounded by revered peaks, glaciers and meadows that resemble a Tibetan painting. On June 28, Ecuador will host Ibarra Skyrace, steeped in Andean identity and volcanic landscapes. Early July shifts the action to Peru, with Cordillera Blanca Skyrace on July 5, where athletes face the land of six-thousand-meter giants, turquoise lakes and narrow paths suspended over blue voids.

FROM AUGUST TO NOVEMBER.

August delivers a transoceanic jolt on the 1st and 2nd, when the United States hosts another new event in the Series: Beast of Big Creek. The name says it all—ferocious climbs, dense forests and a final ascent meant to carve itself into memory. On August 21 the competition jumps to Switzerland for Matterhorn Ultraks Extreme, a vertical tribute to the world’s most iconic mountain, each step under the sharp silhouette of the Cervino. Just days later, on August 22–23, Italy will stage one of the crown jewels of the circuit: the Trofeo Kima, a festival of ridges, chains and airy passages representing the purest spirit of extreme skyrunning.

Italy returns on September 5 with the Maga Skymarathon, a tapestry of trails blending technical challenge, flow and full alpine flavour. Closing the summer, Spain reappears on September 27 with Gordeia Suzien, marked as a red race and renowned for its wild character, Basque atmosphere and terrain combining speed, mud and generous elevation.

The final stretch of the year moves to Malaysia on October 18 with the Mt. Kinabalu International Climbathon, one of the most emblematic ascents in the skyrunning world: a pilgrimage to the roof of Borneo where tropical humidity clashes with razor-edged granite. Spain returns almost immediately on October 24–25 with Sobrescobio Skyrace, also hosting the U23 final, a proving ground where future stars often emerge.

The last word of the season goes, as tradition dictates, to the grand finale. On November 7, Spain’s Marató dels Dements will crown the SkyMasters 2026, the decisive showdown where everything is on the line in a fierce, technical race that demands intelligence, skill and raw courage from those who reach it.

SKYRUNNER WORLD SERIES 2026: Scoring System

The championship’s scoring rules form a tiered system that turns race selection into a strategic decision. Red races multiply points by 1.5 and require each athlete to run at least one of them, with a maximum of two counting towards the ranking.

White races award standard points—one point per performance—requiring athletes to run at least two and allowing up to three results to be retained. The SkyMasters double the points of a white race and serve as the season’s decisive finale, wrapped in that almost mythical aura that accompanies the great championship battles.

In total, athletes must complete four races plus the SkyMasters to appear in the overall standings. They may combine, for example, two red races, two white races and the final; or one red, three white and the SkyMasters. Additional prize money is awarded to the top three in the regular season before the final showdown, rewarding those who show consistency and grit throughout the year.
