TRANSULCANIA VERTICAL UPHILL RACE PREVIEW

BY MAYAYO

The countdown for the Transvulcania adidas TERREX starts TODAY (May 8th) with the first competitive event of the fifteenth edition of Transvulcania adidas TERREX. The Vertical Ascent, as explosive as it is spectacular, symbolizes the start of activities during this very special anniversary for the most international sports event in La Palma. It’s a race where all participants give their best to etch their name into the race’s history.

TRANSVULCANIA 2025 VERTICAL KILOMETER: THE COURSE

The always thrilling Vertical Kilometer will open the competition schedule for this 15th edition. On the steep slopes from Puerto de Tazacorte to the El Time viewpoint, runners will push their limits for a strong start to the weekend.

TRANSVULCANIA VERTICAL UPHILL: THE FAVORITES

It’s hard to pick favorites among the runners this year because the Transvulcania adidas TERREX Vertical Ascent is a race full of surprises, as seen in previous editions. The tough slopes that take runners from sea level at the Port of Tazacorte up to the finish line at the Torre de El Time leave no room for rest.

This year, the field of favorites is more open than ever. Among the male participants, notable contenders include American David Sinclair, Italian Luca del Pero, French Boris Orlhac, Argentine Ezequiel Pauluzak, and the local legion led by Iván Moreno, Arezki Habibi, Diego Díaz, Carlos García, Kevin González, and Aythami Brito, who aims to take a step forward after his impressive performance last year.

On the female side, Moana Lilly Kehres is the great hope from La Palma. Moana already knows what it’s like to stand on the podium, and with her significant progress as a mountain athlete, she aims to keep climbing and compete toe-to-toe with runners like Maude Mathys, Yuri Yoshizumi, Raquel Casares, Charlotte Cotton, Silvia Lara, Estela Guerra, María Benito, and Idoia Pérez.
