The main race of the weekend began at 11:00 PM on Corso Italia in Cortina d’Ampezzo, cheered on by hundreds of spectators. Rosanna Buchauer led the women’s race from the start, gradually increasing her lead to finish in 14 hours, 9 minutes, and 23 seconds. Italian runner Giuditta Turini from Team Kailas took second place with a time of 15:19:03, followed by Michaela Wolf in third.

Rosanna Buchauer :“From the beginning it was quite fun. The last 23 km I thought I was going to lose a lot of time but I kind of motivated myself and now I am so happy to be here. I enjoyed the race so much, the most fun was when I could switch off my “race head” and just feel human and enjoy the views.”

Hannes Namberger from secured his third victory in Cortina, finishing in 11 hours, 57 minutes, and 15 seconds. Although he couldn’t beat his 2022 record, he held off a strong challenge from Tom Evans of Great Britain, who finished second in 12:00:45. Frenchman Yannick Noël took third with 12:12:37.

Italian Andreas Reiterer led the pack until Val Travenanzes but couldn’t maintain the pace, finishing sixth in 12:42:35.

Hannes Namberger: “After col Gallina I had nothing in my tank but I went through this, I risk everything. My knees were hurting so much. I wanted to win, then see my son and my wife. It’s my third time here, my third win. For me it’s the most beautiful and the most important race. It’s my second home. Here I feel like I am at home.”

Antonio Martínez claimed victory in the 50K race, finishing just under a minute ahead of Italian Luca del Pero. Another Italian, Mattia Gianola, took third place. Elisa Desco won the women’s race, followed by Sofía Porokhnavets and Andrea Alina Piscu.

Antonio Martínez Pérez: “Today is a very special day because I had been dragging some problems since a month ago when I had a fall – in fact I didn’t know if I should come. In the end I decided to go for it and I said to myself: I don’t know how my gluteus will respond, I haven’t run more than two hours for two months, but I’m going to try it, I’m going to go out more relaxed than usual, do the downhills gently and that’s it, let’s see what happens.”

Elisa Desco : “It was totally unexpected – I didn’t even think this could happen. With the girls taking part in the 50 it was a surprise for me to find myself at the front. I thought they might overtake me at any moment so I held on and I am really happy. What a great surprise! It was perfect and my previous experience on course counted for sure, knowing the route also helped me a lot because when you know what you are going to meet you can manage your energy better.”
