RESULTS.
Córdoba Province continues to host internationally renowned sporting events that have a positive impact on regional economies. One such event was the thrilling, demanding, and highly attractive Valhöll Argentina, the country’s most epic mountain race, held in Villa General Belgrano and La Cumbrecita.
Over 4,000 participants from around the world took part in the Valhöll Argentina race, joined by over 15,000 visitors, resulting in nearly full hotel occupancy in Villa General Belgrano and nearby areas of Calamuchita (7600 rooms). Athletes from various countries participated in the event, including Brazil (700 participants), Chile (200), Uruguay (300), as well as representatives from Afghanistan, Australia, Austria, Bolivia, Belgium, Canada, Colombia, Costa Rica, China, Croatia, Ecuador, El Salvador, Spain, Germany, the United States, France, Guatemala, Great Britain, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Morocco, Paraguay, Portugal, Panama, Peru, Poland, the Czech Republic, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand, Venezuela, and Hong Kong.
In its fifth edition, Valhöll took participants through some of the most impressive landscapes in the region, including ridges, trails, forests, rivers, and the most imposing summits, such as Cerro Champaquí. Participants enjoyed a unique alpine setting and tackled a challenging circuit through the valley.
Salteño Santos Gabriel Rueda, in his first race in Argentinean territory in three years, and American Tara Fraga, a top-10 finisher in the CCC of the Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc in 2023, were the standout performers of the event, claiming victory in the ‘Epic 125K’ distance.
Santos Gabriel Rueda said “Thanks to all the fans in Argentina. After so many years of racing in Europe, feeling this support from afar, I felt I owed it to come and race and give everything I can in the race. It’s incredible to feel everyone’s encouragement during the race. It’s the first time my mom could be here; I always tried to tell her that running is something I’m passionate about. I put a lot of energy into it. For her to be here watching what I love to do is a dream come true. We endured cold, falls, had to cross water many times, but that’s trail running.”
The female winner Tara Fraga commented: “I’m tired. This is the toughest race I’ve ever run. Tougher than UTMB and any other. I just want to thank everyone for making me feel so welcome here. Your country is beautiful, and I’ll definitely be back.”
An emotional moment occurred with the second-place finish by local athlete Belén Barrera in front of her hometown crowd, securing qualification for the Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc Finals 2025 in Chamonix, France.

VALHÖLL ARGENTINA 2024 BY UTMB: THE RACES
In this edition, the distances will be EPIC 125k, ADVANCE 80k, CHALLENGE 50k, COURAGE 33k, POWER 22k, EXPLORE 11k and there will be a kids test for the enjoyment of the little ones. All the routes have strong ascents and vertiginous descents through technical terrain, starting and ending the shortest in the historic center of Villa General Belgrano, providing the best scenario for what will be a unique party.
The other races, the runners will travel unique and imposing landscapes, linking the entire Calamuchita Valley by the 2 mountain ranges that surround it, Sierras Chicas and Sierras Grandes. The tours will cross iconic sites of the province of Córdoba such as La Cumbrecita, Villa Alpina, Cerro Corona, Cerro Negro or Totora, Cerro Champaquí (highest in the province with 2,790 meters above sea level), and ending in the downtown area of Villa General Belgrano as its main epicenter, resulting in completely demanding and diverse circuits, received by the unparalleled quality of our people, showing the world incredible places in Argentina.
It is important to detail that those who choose to run in the 125-kilometer race, the challenge will be physical and mental, with a technical and demanding circuit, and that will demand every last drop of sweat.
As for the 80k race, it is an agile and runable ultra-distance circuit, which requires great preparation, but also allows to give space to runners who have done a 50k test and are looking to make the jump, dabbling in a greater distance.
