MAMMUT AEGILITY PRO: FAST AND LIGHT HIKING SHOES. Our HIKING SHOES section brings you today the great bet for fast and light hiking  for mixed terrain, from the Swiss brand: Mammut.

The Mammut Aegility Pro is a hiking shoe for those who are seeking for speed in their scrambling, climbs and mountaneering activities, which comes with a price of 160€, 8 mm drop and a weight of 370 grams (390 grams waterptoof version, the Aegility Pro DT).

Scrambling blurs the boundaries between hiking, mountaineering and climbing. This was Mammut’s inspiration for developing the Aegility Pro Mid.

Based on the innovative Mammut 360° Fusn Technology, it consists of just four parts, combining direct damping, secure grip and high comfort in a robust and lightweight shoe.

A shoe for fast ascenders.

  • Price: 160€ in the official store, but now can be found up to 130€
  • Weight: 370 grams | 390 grams the Waterproof version
  • Drop: 8mm
  • Speed laces: Quick and easy adjustment with no distractions
  • Wrap-around grip: Robust lateral and base grip made of Mammut rubber compound
  • PFC Free: DWR Perfluorinated compounds (PFCs) are practically non-biodegradable. MAMMUT has set the strategic goal of phasing out all PFC-containing product treatments and replacing them with other high-performance alternatives.

UPPER

The 360° knitted seamless sock construction offers flexible comfort and breathability while preventing pressure points.

MIDSOLE

The Aegility Pro came with a special midsole construction, as it was thought as a fast hiking shoe. This midsole construction,  improves the comfort and performance of the shoe. Mammut has given priority to make the contact between the foot and the ground more direct, despite providing sufficient cushioning at the same time, mainly in the descents.

OUTSOLE

The new sole design is close to the ground for enhanced control and features a Mammut rubber compound, ensuring reliable, wrap-around grip.

 

MAMMUT AEGILITY PRO: CONCLUSIONS

This Mammut Aegility Pro is by its numbers a very solid mountain hiking shoe with some modern features which show a trend in many brands, maybe pushed by the users and/or the hiking/trail communities, a hiking shoe must no longer be a heavy, ugly piece ob nobuck.

Now a days, almost every mountain equipment brand have many models to chose between trail running and hiking shoes, and no longer hiking is synonym of a heavy mountain boot. We have introduce here some of these examples like La Sportiva Ultra Raptor 2, Hoka Anacapa, inov8 Rocfly or the brand new Salomon S/Lab Genesis

So, this Aegility Pro comes with the 2 versions, with membrane or without, different colors in each case makes and as a first step, it certainly promises…. wishing to be able to try them to complete this technical analysis with their real performance in the Alps, the Pyrenees and any other mountain.
