EXCLUDES RUSSIA FROM ALL ITS COMPETITIONS
Statement of the Council of the ISMF-Lausanne, 1 March 2022
According to the urge of the Executive Board (EB) of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) of 25 February 2022 and the IOC’s strong condemnation of the breach of the Olympic Truce by the Russian government and the government of Belarus
the Council of the International Ski Mountaineering Federation (ISMF) has approved on February 28, 2022 that:
- a) Follow the urge of the IOC EB to all International Sports Federations to cancel their sports events currently planned in Russia for this season 2021-2022.
- b) Follow the urge of the IOC EB that no Russian or Belarussian national flag be displayed and no Russian or Belarussian anthem be played in international sports events which are not already part of the respective World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) sanctions for Russia.
At the same time, the Council of the ISMF expresses its deep concerns about the present situation in Ukraine and the solidarity of the ski mountaineering community with all the people affected by this war.
