Spartan is a company based in Boston (USA) that since its origin in obstacle courses now seeks to expand its turnover through the trail running market. Let’s go with the 2022 calendar that will visit all continents except Antartica.

The launch of the new Spartan Trail 2021 circuit generated expectations whose real final development may not have been completed. As happened at the time with the now defunct Ultra Trail World Tour, few fans will be able today to name the champions of the last edition.
However, the American company does not give up and for 2022 launching the second season of the Spartan Trail World Championship, which as we can see maintains the striking business denomination of “World Championship”.
SPARTAN TRAIL 2022: CALENDAR.
The 2022 circuit is significantly weakened by losing a key event, Lavaredo Ultra Trail that after the first experience 2021 has chosen to reassociate with UTMB WORLD SERIES 2022. Hong Kong’s Translantau also comes out. Enter the Skyline Scotland appointment of which, unfortunately, we still do not know the exact distances.
Thus, for this year the “Spartan Trail World Championship” maintains nine events whose main attraction for the popular one is to be spread over the five continents. For spaniards, having Transgrancanaria and Ultrapirineu is undoubtedly an advantage for those who wish to figure it as a target.
Let’s go with the calendar in detail, which as you can see extends from March 2022 to February 2023. Note only that three of the appointments still have to confirm the exact distances of each race, as well as the exact day of the test.

SPARTAN TRAIL 2022: TWO CATEGORIES.
The Championship has two categories with two different rankings, thus seeking to reach a higher rank of elite athletes.
- SPARTAN TRAIL ULTRA: The Trail Ultra championship will host events of more than 50 kilometers,
- SPARTAN TRAIL RUN: the Trail Run championship will do the same with events of 49 kilometers or less.
The company has concentrated its promotional investment on paying the elites who participate. Thus, in addition to the particular contracts that some sign as “ambassadors” of the company throughout the year, an important bag of cash prizes is also offered.
There will be € 22,500 ($ 25,000) per race divided between each category. It is a huge commitment to the elite from Spartan. The company argues that it seeks give value to the efforts of those who aim to be as professional as possible in the sport of trail running.
The best four results will be counted among the total of tests played, with a minimum of two tests completed to be included in the elite ranking.
